Taxiphish is “Based and FitD-Pilled”

Wildwood was absolutely amazing, and I recommend everyone go see it in theaters urgently, but beyond that I’ve never seen a movie more in need of a TTRPG setting book. I want to explore that world!!!!

My first five TTRPGs: 1. D&D 3.5e / 4e / 5e 2. Monster of the Week 3. Worlds in Peril 4. Masks: A New Generation 5. Cypher System

On to session 3. Hard to onboard a new player who missed the first two sessions, still, this game makes improv so easy- went from no ideas about what the next job would be to my players planning a hair-brained boat heist on a canal lock just to utterly destroy the Red Sashes in their turf.

Second session of Blades in the Dark. This might be the best designed TTRPG ever made

Books good (Note that I find Neil Gaiman an abhorrent man, but I cannot deny American Gods as having a profound effect on me. Just don’t give the guy any money to read it!)

Even as a story game chud, I think most RPGs do not need mechanics for persuasion, detecting lies, or investigation. These can all pretty much be resolved with the conversation at the table / question and answer, and are often more satisfying that way.

i really enjoyed The Odyssey, but the more I think about it the more I’m seeing its flaws. some of it for sure lives up to the hype, but Christ, Nolan needs a better screenwriter. very uneven script.

@felixisaacs.bsky.social ‘s WILDSEA is just unfathomably good. I’ve been running it for 46 sessions (probably about 5-10 sessions to go) and it just endlessly generates incredible, one of a kind play sessions and adventuring material. I feel like I could run it forever.

1) Masks: The New Generation- Easy to pick up story driven PbTA that is an easy genre touchstone 2) Wildsea: For its imaginative world and character-forward engine 3) Mythic Bastionland: For some fantasy flavor that is way more rich and textured than 5e 4) Mothership: Cuz it’s fuckin’ awesome

#over/under Might be the most breathtaking thing I’ve experienced adjacent to RPGs, even as a GM for (10ish?) years. Even better, the legendary @d20plusmodifier.bsky.social made art of my big metal Union doofus, and I met some amazing creatives. It’s incredible how talented MoSh fans are
