one thing that surprised me (re-)learning piano is the effect of practice. i’m doing the same 3 pieces every day. i usually get frustrated by failing but with piano i’ve learned to trust the process. somehow the fingers that refused a movement repeated badly 200 times yesterday do it with ease today

The number of DMs I received basically saying "me too" to the types of issues I was facing was enlightening. Not everybody has a Sunil, and it was crazy to hear the stories from those that don't I've generally had a good experience, but this one was so bad that I lost faith

We'll be migrating away slowly to a suitable provider. I'll be chatting with a few folks in coming weeks My focus is still primarily on creating the best home for communities everywhere ❤️ On that note, I'll be announcing the big features we released later 😉 Stay tuned!

My last resort was to just rinse Cloudflare here on socials. I hate doing this. It's so far against my grain and who I am as a person, but I was left no choice as they were not responding to my support requests, the service was broken, and our users globally were blocked

Needless to say, I've now deleted all those posts. Nobody asked me to, I just did because I truly hate being that person. I'm a "peace love and community" guy at the end of the day ✌️❤️🙌 However, given this experience, I will still be looking to migrate away from @cloudflare.social

It shouldn't have taken Sunil being Sunil to get the correct result here Repeatedly, Cloudflare was telling me the equivalent of "but it says here you bought 51 barrels of gasoline for your bicycle" and I'm saying "my dudes I'm riding a bicycle, your billing system is incorrect"

All of this while their system was literally broken. Nothing on the Status page that I could point users to say "it's not us, it's them". So users are just constantly emailing me that things are broken while I was literally powerless on my gasoline-less bicycle to help 😩

There's 1 key interaction for communities: people interacting to other people People confuse this with audience: people coming to interact with you We're optimizing heavily for the former. I shared a few things we're working on with folks last night. I think I blew a few minds 😉

We're shipping features to @guild.host faster than I can post about them 😅 So far this week: - Major infra migration on Sunday - New Settings screens tracking sub-section changes - New Embeds that use our new Design System, config via Settings screens - Tons more features And it's only Wednesday 🤯

Now, you can incredibly simply just copy & paste any Embed directly from Settings and you get _the same_ component that we have on Guild as well ✨ It's actually incredible! Plus it's all easily configurable, previewable & copy-pasteable via the new Embed Settings on any Guild/Event/User 🤯

Wait is @danabra.mov working on Embeds too 👀 You still in London dude? Haven't seen you in a while and would love to hear more

We have Embeds for Presentations too, and those will be better exposed in the same manner once we ship an upcoming Presentations redesign 😉 Stay tuned! So much to come ❤️

Sure, we can and do offer a suite of iframe Embeds. But they just don't feel "native" to the 3rd party app it's being embedded into. It's not a great UX and annoying to lay out, as the embed needs to fit the iframe container...

To resolve this, we're now using the Shadow DOM which is built for this purpose. Every new Design System component is served via the Shadow DOM, with all of the generated CSS contained within that as well

I'm particularly thrilled about the new Embeds Our whole UI is built on React Native. Initially it used my custom built Design System that had inline styles typical for React Native Web. This made it easy to embed anywhere, as styles were directly on the DOM elements

Then we moved to Tamagui, which wants to generate CSS based on the design system tokens. This made it far more difficult to embed, as now we'd simply conflict with the host CSS Plus Tamagui wants to Portal out to the host DOM, further breaking encapsulation Thus we couldn't ship our new DS Embeds

🚀 Big release went out yesterday! It was a massive infrastructure migration (apologies for a bit of unexpected downtime 😅) that sets us up quite nicely for a ton of awesome new features ✨ Still working a few rough edges, but overall it's looking great! Enjoy ❤️

Oh hey haven't been on here for a while 👋 Been heads down prepping this release for @guild.host 😉 I'm working with an infra provider to enable a feature for us, then can't wait to get this out 🚀 So many goodies, really happy with how things are shaping up!

Here’s a tiny development sneak peek at our new Flash Messages in the Dynamic Island 😉 Refactored it a while back to support this, now wrapped up the feature entirely. Super slick and extremely happy with the result! 🙌
