feel like I'm in a horror movie just desperately texting STOP at this relentless onslaught of fundraising messages

"You Can See Everything" is three hours of various iterations Costanza's "it's not a lie if you believe it" credo. Like a nesting doll of subterfuge and meta references, and I can't wait to watch it again

We’re never going to live on Mars. We’re never going to live on the Moon. There is no Planet B. We need to take care of our magical mystical miraculous planet like it’s the only home we will ever have. Because it is.

In the last week, greedy billionaires have easily convinced me to cancel Hulu, HBO and Disney+. (Adding to the list of Target, Amazon Prime, Netflix and others). I don’t miss any of it. More time and money for cooler shit, like planting native plant like this cute little New England aster! 🤩

Wavy-lined emerald moth. Their caterpillars attach pieces of dried flowers and other plants to themselves as camouflage. Nature! 🤩🤯

Ever look around and think “wow, nature is unreal”?? We are so lucky to live on this planet. (photos taken in RMNP & Brainard Rec Area, Colorado)

Today’s bug: bordered wedge-shaped beetle. For anyone in the US’ Midwest, plant some Mountain Mint that’s native to your region. It’s far and away the most popular thing I’ve ever planted. Everyone (but the deer) loves it.

A new part of my daily mental health routine is watching and IDing the bugs in our native plant beds. It’s very peaceful and I recommend it. This guy is (I believe) a Perplexing Bumble Bee (common name).

Related: Quit Amazon Prime, Netflix, Target, Spotify and Instagram this year (quit TikTok last year), and I don't miss any of them. Still some more digital/consumer detoxing to go, but it's a start, and I don't foresee going back to any of them

While you highlight it, please note is the product of local journalism, which has been carrying a lot of the burden in an environment where national outlets simply can't cover everything everywhere all at once. Support your local journalists!

My latest post is all about my love for the Great Lakes, which, naturally, are under increased threat because of the current administration: "These cycles of human-driven calamity and restoration are exhausting and they always come at a cost."

triciaboot.substack.comThe Great Lakes are my Roman Empire*They create their own weather systems. They power entire industries. They hold more than a fifth of the world’s freshwater supply. They are the greatest of all lakes.

Like so many other cats, Roger was a huge fan of the Oscar-winning "Flow." We watched it Friday night and he was *enthralled* -- the humans loved it, too!

I love that Pepe (L) is slowly allowing Ziggy (R) to have more physical contact with him, but it's still a tenuous situation at best.
