Always that brief moment when I see new followers and I think "huh I bet that person doesn't want to see 100 Chicago Bears skeets in an hour, maybe I shouldn't do that" But fam I'm gonna do it

Feels bold to do this without his replacement already locked in. Wonder if they hang their person already

The White Sox have informed John Schriffen that his contract will not be extended as the club’s lead play-by-play announcer.

Lotta hate in the QTs and I get it, but I have trouble hating him. He felt like a nice guy who liked the job and the city. But he wasn’t good enough. And with Chicago being as big as it is, it should be a premium destination. We deserve better. But that’s not exactly Jon’s fault.

I guess what I’m saying is that Schriffen was the Mitch Trubisky of White Sox announcers, and you don’t get mad at Trubisky, you get mad at Ryan Pace

This Sucks

Bears TE Cole Kmet will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Ben Johnson: "He’s everything we want to be about here. He’s going to be sorely missed. He’s Chicago. He’s been here his whole life. He’s a big part of our heartbeat. It stinks. It does. I hate it for him."

This was the throw that stunned me the most last night. That’s a throw you shouldn’t be able to make, but Caleb can. I’ve never seen a Bears QB in my lifetime with the physical ability and knowledge to make that throw

Pats tried to catch the Bears with a Nontraditional Tampa 2 look on 3rd down with Byard (#31, red arm sleeve) as the middle runner. Byard knows exactly where this ball is going...and it doesn't matter because Caleb Williams throws this at 10000 mph. Insane grab by Odunze too

Wild to learn that the DOJ’s anti-trust case against Microsoft—which I supported—seems to have been to at least partially kicked off by a lie

The phrase "tactful fabulism" is a wonderful way of describing someone who is cordial at a meeting, but then recalls it as subject to violent disagreement and threats to his businesses. This is something Andreessen has done throughout his career.

It’s so weird that the NFL has worked itself into a situation where draining the clock is a legitimate overtime strategy

Don’t necessarily mind the FG attempt there, but really would like to see the #Bears get back to pouring it on. Don’t think you’re gonna win this with 14 points. #BearDown

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

I don't think most Americans understand yet what a global laggard the USA is turning into here. Media instead told us that electric vehicles were a fad that didn't work.

John Bistline@bistline.bsky.social

Nepal passed 5% battery electric vehicle share in August 2021 and is at 75%. The U.S. passed 5% in October 2022 and is at 6%.

This isn't a case of abusing some loophole or misusing discretionary authority. The law is unambiguous and he's breaking it, simple as that. If Congress isn't going to do anything about breaking the law that already exists, passing another law to make it double-illegal accomplishes nothing.

Tried to make a math joke and I biffed it hardcore so i deleted that so fast would’ve thought it was a nude selfie

The timeline that would cause the most psychic pain would be “Covid lab leak didn’t happen but Russian Plague Lab Leak did” so I assume that’s what the truth will be

Pretty sure it was the Rick Moranis version of Little Shop of Horrors, which my mom rented and showed to me because she liked the music

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

But that can overshadow the importance of getting the guy you need. Sometimes it’s worth giving up efficiency to be certain you get where you need to be 2/2

Bears in the pleasant spot of being confident that they can win with their backup QBs and yet also no doubt that their starter is their best option when healthy

One thing I don’t hear a lot of recently is people crowing that Ryan Poles got bad value on the Jonah Jackson trade

Re: Jonah Jackson, it’s still true that given the standard assessments at the time, you would have expected that the Bears could have gotten him on a cheaper contract, with salary relief, or without giving a pick. 1/2

TBC I think that hate is…unproductive, as in I don’t think he needs to be replaced and I doubt you could improve on him this year anyway (unless you freed Muhammad from the slot) But at the same time, seems less and less mildly likely he’s here next year

Okay I’ve now seen three different Republican ads specifically for Texas in this game Between Chicago and New York As I sit in my home in Missouri

I’m not incredibly impressed by the offenses they’re playing but aside from the Carolina game the Bears D has been notably competent, which is miles better than they were projected by DVOA et al

Like I’m watching the half time highlights and the Eagles have 13 points at the half, I dunno how they did it but that’s better than they did against the Bears

I like kicking the FG here. Get 3, and if you stop the Jets O (entirely likely) you get a shot at another before the half

Bears have been extremely bad in short yardage and it would be very good for them to fix that, especially if they plan on going for it on fourth a lot

Remembering now how the pregame said that the last thing the Cleveland starter did before taking the mound was listen to Creed’s “Higher”
