Vancouver: Single Stair Code + "Villages" Plan Critics will be critics, but the truth is we've never seen single stair urbanism in action in Canada (or most of North America). It's a new thing.

@ohtheurbanity.bsky.social my wife and I are planning on visiting Montreal at the end of July, and plan on staying in Plateau-Mont-Royale. Any suggestions for must do activities/places to visit in the area? Bonus for bike friendly options! I've visited 3-4 times, but haven't been since 2018

The only thing “carbon capture” has ever been successful at, is acting as a corporate and political distraction from, and an excuse for avoiding, REAL climate action.

Halifax has been positive in job growth since March 2025, likely because of increased defense and military spending

I am super grateful for a local bike store that loans me a cargo bike so we can keep up our daily kid-carrying while our bike is in the shop, but there’s nothing like getting your own bike back. It’s very reassuring that we really have chosen the right bike for our family’s needs!

This streetcar took seven (7) minutes to travel 300 metres from the station to the other side of the intersection.

Oh The Urbanity!@ohtheurbanity.bsky.social

I’ve always liked how Toronto buses and streetcars usually drop you off in the station, within the fare paid zone.

This is a pretty interesting project, I saw the news when this was first announced. But this is a really great video about some of the more interesting details and how the project came to be

Some highlights from the amazing Stars On Ice show in Halifax last night! It was so cool to see Piper and Paul, as well as some of the other Olympians who represented us in Italy this winter. The whole show was amazing and packed full of entertainment

With gerrymandering concerns rising in Alberta, this animation shows how proportional representation solves the problem. Under our current system, lines dictate results. With a proportional system, voters get the representation they chose, regardless of how the map is drawn.

All are welcome to join to honour the memory of Scritchy Raccone, our fallen hero of the #PylonWars. A small service will be held at the intersection of Harvard and Allan Streets in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Saturday, April twenty second 18th at 2:00 PM.

The #NDP leadership voting opens today and I have been catching up on my debate viewing and policy research. I think all of the candidates have presented very respectable platforms It was a difficult choice for me, but ranked choice voting allowed ME to not compromise on MY personal beliefs

There's a difference between feeling unsafe and uncomfortable. MLAs are not unsafe in Province House. Closing down the second floor to the public is a cowardly move. They did it because some of the MLAs feel uncomfortable with the cuts, and won't admit it.

So if I'm reading this report right, 10 years after passing the BRT plan we are now starting a three year planning process so that by 2028 we may start to impliment parts of BRT plan first approved by council in 2016.

I finally watched Andor S2 recently and I can't help but think about this quote from the show "The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that."

Andor is a political thriller that masquerades as a Star Wars show. It is prescient about the current day, because it is steeped in the historical relevance of yesterday. In a world where information can spread like wildfire; ideas are contagious and uncontrollable. The truth will come out.

I’m finding it painful to watch CBC platform mostly conservatives to gush praise at former Prime Minister Stephen Harper (they’re releasing his archival collection) with almost zero commentary about the awful things he did while in power & around the world since. The selective amnesia is nauseating.

Report card on @gandersocial.bsky.social - feels just like Twitter, Bluesky, Threads, etc - very limited features still, but the basics are good so far - limited content, it's a closed beta but to be expected - entirely Canadian, which is very refreshing - quick fixes and responsive feedback

It only makes sense to feed buses into the higher capacity transit. People don't mind transfers when they are reliable and comfortable. Wish Halifax could just figure that out and build commuter trains on the right of way that already exists

Oh The Urbanity!@ohtheurbanity.bsky.social

The “biggest remake of the bus network ever” will see Montreal’s bus network substantially reoriented around the REM. Fewer long-distance bus routes, especially towards downtown. More local buses, taking people to the REM for longer trips.

You can interact with Bluesky and follow people from here, directly in the Gander app; but nothing is propagated on this end. Hopefully those integrations can be worked out

We are the Nova Scotia Museum. What began as one museum of science and history in 1868 is today, a family of 28 sites & over one million artifacts & specimens, across Nova Scotia. We have seven sites that are open year-round.

Tim Houston is now running "illegal cannabis" awareness ads to follow up his embarrassing crackdown from a few weeks ago. Noticeably no mention of fentanyl, after the RCMP didn't back up his claim b/c there was no proof. Why are we spending our tax $ on this drivel?

The Trump administration is actively censoring what is shown by the media. It won't stop here; they will continue to sanitize their heinous crimes and cosplay as a competent government behind a facade of smug contempt for the public. They think they can get away with this.

I think this whole "flood the zone" with propaganda to make people angry and distracted is continuing to work.
