Technical Difficulties Gaming Podcast

Welcome new Bluesky members! Let's reintroduce ourselves. We're a #ttrpg #actualplay #podcast. We love indie RPGs; horror, sci-fi, and historical gaming; and playtesting new systems! We run mostly short campaigns and one-shots On www.technicaldifficultiespod.com and all podcast apps!

Just had to cancel a five-player game yesterday, because two had accidentally double-booked, and two were sick.

New Episode! The nightmare of the 90s is alive in Deep Lake.

New One Shot! Every experiment needs multiple runs to produce valid results...

Our great friends are doing their fourth season! So far, every season has been even better than the last one, so join us in making this new one as fabulous as possible!

Our friend @lymerpg.bsky.social (of #DawnoftheOrcs fame) has released a new game! It's also about orcs! But...very different!

What are some spaces that belong on a #DeltaGreen bingo board? I'm thinking: "Crit Fail a SAN Check," "Oops We Found the Monsters," "We Think our Handler is Lying To Us," "The Real Monster is Humans," "The Real Monster is America," etc.

www.skeletoncodemachine.com/p/bingo-ttrpgs This essay really got our juices flowing. Thanks, @exeunt.press! Gonna make a Bingo card to introduce new players to the tropes/expectations of new games.

We will definitely be playing this.

New Episode! Sometimes all you get from a side-quest is a cool story to tell. Sometimes, you *hope* that's all you get from the side-quest. #ReignRPG #Nagalisitu

We love Keeper Mav! And we love kitties! Help this kitty out by getting some great scenarios!

New One Shot! It's a Smouldering Moor - sadly, not Laurence Fishburne's performance as Othello in the 1995 movie, but a literal treeless upland that's literally on fire. But it's a good time anyway, thanks to #TrophyGold from @jesseross.com and @gauntletrpg.bsky.social !

New One-Shot! It's internet piracy -- but literally, when we're stealing data from a digital galleon filled with cyber treasures! #MetavaultHeist, by nullsettabletop.itch.io, in the 2024 #Level1Anthology from @9thlevelgames.bsky.social!

Come for the complaint, stay for the exhibits:

New Episode! Or maybe two! Two for the price of one! And one is free! So they're both free! Look, there's only so many times we can tell you that this #HeartTheCityBeneath campaign is completely unhinged. Come for the Bad Assassination Choices, stay for The Gnoll Boys.

New Episode! The final boss of our talking-it-out adventure: a tenured professor who thirsts for publishing glory.

New One-Shot Episode! We're jumping out of airplanes, mining palm trees, fighting Nazis, saving Amelia Earhardt's parents' marriage -- you know, typical #Timewatch stuff. Thanks to @kevinkulp.bsky.social for writing this thing!

New Episode! No matter what the future holds, you can always count on one thing. Nightclubs.

New Episode! Ethan is reworking an old idea for a new crack at the DG Shotgun Scenario contest this year, and he's using his intimate knowledge of St. Louis highway construction zones.

New Episode! We solve the world's problems by talking 'em out in a bar, "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" (because you're a legendary god and also half of them are your descendants)

Nw N-Sht psd! Bsky pst fr #CBR+PNK PRDTR. Frm @cabinetofcuriosities.games

New Episode! More 90's. More nightmares. More #PublicAccessRPG from #PublicAccess by @jasoncordova.bsky.social and @gauntletrpg.bsky.social

New Episode! This one is called "On Lusty Gentlemen," what else do you want me to say?

New Episode! Full disclosure: the rules of #HearttheCityBeneath somewhat protect our PCs from instant death. But NOTHING protects all of our NPC companions from death except SHEER IMPROBABLE LUCK. And yet our entourage grows!!

New Episode! It's finale time. Will our adventurers survive? As the saying goes, there's more than one way to skin a witch -- or to be skinned by a witch, as the case may be.

New One-Shot Episode! What could be more horrifying than standard-definition analog broadcast television? It's 1990's nightmares, with #PublicAccess by @jasoncordova.bsky.social and @gauntletrpg.bsky.social!

New Episode! We finally get to find out whether this circus of weirdos can survive a straight-up combat. Toe-to-toe with gnoll commandos and a spider-centaur, on rickety platforms over a water tank with a giant kaiju trapped in it. Pretty normal, by Heart standards.

FIFA may be morally bankrupt, but don't let them take the joy of the world's game from you! Whether watching the #WorldCup today or not, tell your own footballing stories with For the Badge! sociable-turtle-games.itch.io/for-the-badg...

New Episode! How hard could it be to find a Skin Witch? You'd think they'd come up pretty easy on a Google Maps search.

New Episode! Sometimes, you solve problems with violence. Other times, you solve problems by befriending a bunch of new species and giving them Pokemon names. And then violence!

New One-Shot! @callmemav.bsky.social takes us into the cosmic horrors of glam rock! Any resemblance to real people is...well...you can be the judge of that.

New One-Shot! In some games, we stop the apocalypse. In this one, we stop stopping the apocalypse! #OrcBorg #CrashThisBustedSpaceshipIntoHeavenAndLiveForeverInOrcGlory

Our @trinite.bsky.social was in this one! Did he die? Find out!

Our alumnus/friend @aaronjshelton.bsky.social is still at it on @kamehouseparty.bsky.social, riffing on good ol' Dragon Ball Z. Check out their special charity stream for Goku Day! Four movies! Greg will be guesting! May 9, 5pm ET, on twitch.tv!

New Episode! How are all these people still alive!?

New Mini-Series! It's not every day you run into an RPG where one of the character classes is a specific Renaissance Pope. #FeBorg!

New Episode! Our suddenly-expanded band of delvers venture into the depths of the nightmare train network. They'll all be safe -- right?

Special New Episode! We're proud to support the new game Ballad Hunters, from @moltensulfur.bsky.social and @pelgranepress.bsky.social ! We got to test it out with the author, and we had a blast! Kickstarting now at www.kickstarter.com/projects/pel...! And here's our playtest!

It's out ten-year restrospective! 2020 was...a good year for pretending to be in other worlds. Greg helped us out with his game Orichalcum Chef: exciting food competitions in a friendly fantasy world!

We were busy in 2019! One of our special projects was an adaptation of @rosspayton.bsky.social 's chain-journal-writing game "Lovecraftian Narrator," which our founding member Aaron transformed into a voicemail recording game to fit the audio medium. It was incredible!

It's our Ten-Year Podiversary retrospective! In 2019, our Adam began a tradition of running horrifying #EclipsePhase one-shots for us on his birthday. And this first one was a real doozy.

It's our Ten-Year Podiversary retrospective! In 2018, we were deep into our 10k Lakes "living world" campaign for #RedMarkets, with several partner podcasts. Someone came up with a job to collect feral cats that we could trade for weed...it got weirder from there.

We interrupt this festival of nostalgia to bring you our New Episode! We're playtesting The Black Company RPG, coming soon from @arcdreampublishing.bsky.social ! These beta rules aren't final, but they're already a ton of fun!

In 2017, we'd finished our first campaign and started branching out. Our founding member Aaron ran a brilliant game of Delta Green for us, and the horrors of VHS...

We're celebrating our Ten-Year Podiversary with a festival of throwback links! For starters, here's where it all began: March 24, 2016. The first episode of our first campaign, playtesting the original #RedMarkets beta rules by @hebanongames.bsky.social. Welcome to Technical Difficulties!
