Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that

Saudi Arabia (majority stake) and Jared Kushner (minority stake) buying Electronic Arts is one of the underrated instances of oligarchic media consolidation. Should be considered along similar lines as the Ellisons taking over Warner Bros.-Discovery or Musk taking over Twitter.

"Moments away: Blackrock CEO Fink" Talk about your nominative determinism...

Carl Quintanilla: Real average hourly earnings down 0.7% on the month, that's the sixth straight month... Jim Cramer: Look, rich people are making a lot of money. God, I sound like Marx. I really don't want to sound like Marx. It's just, look at the data.

My sister was my best (wo)man. In the prep for the wedding, she asked if I wanted to know what the bachelor party would be and I said yes. She said "strippers" and held it just long enough to see the look on my face before saying "OF COURSE IT'S NOT STRIPPERS" (it was mini golf and gokarts)

"numbers don't lie" But they can sure as hell be USED to lie.

I reanalyzed the CDC data behind the LGB “free fall” headline. It rests on a change in bisexual identification among one grade, in one wave, of one survey. Gay or lesbian identification did not change significantly. Calling it a "free fall" is sensational and just gives bad actors talking points.

My sister maxed her last PFT in her 40s. She could run circles around this jabroni. But she’s a ~female~ so she doesn’t count to him. What a fucking asshole.

Pete Hegseth trails behind the crowd while running with troops in San Diego

Complicated feelings about the US military aside, it makes me fucking furious that I'm almost certain that Hegseth's attempts to invalidate the distinguished service of my sister and the women like her was a factor in her retiring when she did.

The number of people who can quote the entirity of 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' or 'Star Wars' is not insignificant.
