Very true, also a contributing factor in why Seattle Public Schools adopted universal free lunches.

About 2 million kids have lost SNAP since deep cuts were enacted last year. The ripple effects: Kids losing SNAP also lose automatic enrollment for free meals at school. And as more kids lose SNAP, their schools may be forced to drop Community Eligibility.

That the Mariners were eliminated from the playoffs on a day when they hadn't even taken the field yet is somehow fitting.

Without saying your age, what is your favorite movie that came out when you were 20 years old? This is a tough question, according to IMDB a lot of good movies came out that year, but I'm going with Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Great article outlining the impact HR1 is having on SNAP benefits and how some states are choosing to deal with it.

Katie Bergh@katiebergh.bsky.social

H.R. 1’s unprecedented cost shift to states is already driving far deeper SNAP cuts than anticipated as states scramble to reduce costs. Congress must delay this unfunded mandate for all states before even more struggling families lose food assistance.

I can relate.

Punchbowl reports “White House officials determined they do not have the authority” to use contingency reserves —billions of $ that Congress provided for use when SNAP funding is inadequate— to fund Nov. SNAP benefits. But, that’s not what USDA’s now-deleted shutdown plan says:

Thank you, Gov Bob Ferguson, for ensuring that our food banks have the resources needed to keep people fed. Trump's refusal to utilize contingency funds to continue SNAP for the hungry—even as he bails out Argentina with $40 billion—is beyond cruel. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

At least the people who needlessly die in the next wave of hurricanes will die in a world with fewer pronouns. I'm sure that'll be a comfort to their loved ones.
