Just a nomad from Twitter (long time ago) and Instagram looking for the best place, always trying to restore what I have lost and also be in the center of the stream of time like I could not before social media.

They're always there (everywhere they are needed) - usually the first ones, and well organized to function amidst disaster, in cooperation with the locals. One of my favorite organizations.

WCK's first community kitchen in Nepal is up and running. 🍽️ At Shree Sundari Higher Secondary School in Gerkhutar—just north of Bidur—the Nepal Chefs Association is cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner for families impacted by the floods. Today's menu: daal, rice, potatoes & chicken. #ChefsForNepal

In Boca de Aroa—a coastal community more than 100 miles west of Caracas—power is out & homes have collapsed in the wake of the earthquakes. WCK restaurant partner Masa Madre is going directly to families, delivering hot meals to one of the hardest-hit communities. #ChefsForVenezuela

Here's what WCK teams are seeing in Venezuela in the wake of Wednesday's devastating earthquakes. We're serving meals to families and first responders. Alongside trusted partners, we're moving as quickly as possible to expand our response to reach the hardest-hit areas. #ChefsForVenezuela

Good morning friends 🤍 Found the mama owl 🦉 She has so good camo that even if I selected the pic where she is the most distinguishable, it still fits the camo theme. Have a lovely day 🤍 #BirdOfTheDay #BOTD #CamoOrContrast #Owls #Birds #BirdPhotography #Nature #ECK

You never know what to believe and what not - but probably that happened and should not have. (All in the name of 'fighting terrorists')

According to the Lebanese National News Agency, these panels supply the town with electricity, which is needed for its water supply, and Israel destroyed homes, roads and olive trees as well.

I just learned about prediction markets. Was not aware they existed. (Maybe I should just bet on everything going wrong - so I'll be either rich or happy things turned out better than I expected? As long as the planet still exists, I could donate wins to the victims....)

Wasn't that what got T suspended from the old Twitter, as incending violence was against its rules ? (I, in turn, got suspended for not providing my phone number, while the mail address I had signed up with was completely functional. Still wonder what rule I broke....)

I really do think we need to add it to the constitution that you can’t declare war through a tweet

The Lebanese National Theatre in Tyre has turned into a shelter for displaced families who fled the ongoing threat in southern Lebanon. Lebanese actor and director Kassem Istanbouli, who is also the theater's founder, spoke to Reuters about the initiative.

(Beside the point - but realizing there was a place in Alaska with the same name as a German 18th/19th century writer got me into a ton of interesting reading)

"thousands," @nytimes.com?? There were 3000 in Kotzebue, Alaska alone, above the Arctic Circle

For as long as I can remember (and I am old), German trains had - lockable - toilets for everybody, and I've never heard of one single problem arising from it. (Vandalism still is a problem. In my view, there should be a special place in hell for people who vandalize public toilets)

Literally last month in Miami I was out at dinner and used the restroom. As I walked in, a woman came out of a stall, saw me, then looked over at the urinal and said "oh my god, this is the men's room!" We survived.

This is the strangest weather forecast I've ever seen. Curious to see if temperatures really will drop 15°C between 10 and 12 am without even a thundestorm - whethter the bug is in the weather or the forecasting system......
