Can I just interrupt you with a brief commercial announcement? I have written a novella and published it on Kindle. A Killing at Southwall FC is a crime story in the finest traditions of, Christie, Allingham and Bruce. You can buy it for the criminally low price of 1.99 here. amzn.eu/d/06hhf1RJ

The Beasley Table returns.

Very early days but the Champions League table begins to take shape. Real Madrid the only team with two wins against teams from the top two pots. Tougher tests to come for Stuttgart. Inter will probably be fine, Slavia Prague rather less so.

I have come to the view that Dr Who, at its best, exists to prepare young people for the horrors of the world they are entering and to provide some moral framework to help them manage in that world.

Looking at available managers on Transfermarkt and am depressed to find that despite seemingly being around forever, Didier Deschamps is the same age as me. I'm going back to bed.

This pulled me into my local vinyl shop. Hats off to Silva Screen for having the balls to publish the score to the Tara Reed era of The Avengers. Hats off also to the vendor who sized me up in seconds and gave me an optimum price point for both parties.

Mads Mikkelsen came off the bench for Tromsø in their win against Cluj in the Conference League last night. Although by the looks of him he's been swigging from the fountain of youth.

The 2 Bundesliga kicked off last night with Hertha BSC winning at relegated Bochum 1-0. The game was streamed live on the Bundesliga YouTube channel as are the rest of the weekend fixtures.

The German second tier is probably the best second division in Europe for quality, excitement and atmosphere. It's even better than the championship IMO. Although, unlike the English league, it lacks a decent post season.

Recall parliament and nationalise Raleigh now.

Sad to see the news of iconic Notts company Raleigh going into administration.  Originally founded in Nottingham in 1885, many generations of cyclists grew up riding Raleigh models including the Chopper, Grifter and Burner. #nottingham #notts #raleigh #bicycle #bikes
