Rex being built on a client–server architecture doesn't really make much sense yet, but it does allow for the possibility of upgrading either component separately. You can upgrade the terminal emulator without upgrading the server, and in the former case, processes keep running.

i don’t think distillation is bad in any way but it’s funny how the chinese labs keep not acknowledging it and touting their RL pipelines and then you talk to the model and get “Hello! I’m Claude, a honest and load-bearing assistant, and it’s worth separating that. How can I land your seams today?

ChatGPT also recommended disabling the always-on display, and it's worked really well. It's not too annoying to use it like this for a couple of days, and it really helps with battery life. I’m at 43% after 14 hours.

I just set Return to Clock to Always and disabled Background Refresh and Auto Launch. Let's hope this works.

BREAKING: SCOTUS rejects Trump admin's request to allow it to end gender-affirming medical care in prisons — a significant, if tentative, rejection of one of the admin's most extreme anti-trans arguments. Only Thomas and Alito noted they would have granted the stay. More to come: www.lawdork.com

The details are now public, as of two hours ago. bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi... The secret P-384 keys for these intermediate CAs are all zeros except the last 8 bits. All not-updated software can be MITM'ed now. IOT boxes that can't or don't update are now trivially MITM'able forever.

If you make HTTPS requests or have other TLS clients and care about MITM attacks, you need to update today. If you run Go: go get go@1.27.3 If you run Homebrew: brew update brew install ca-certificates If you run Linux, maybe stay off the internet for now.

i now have a run that is both green and in progress at the same time. fun! GitHub are aware of the issue, writing “[w]e’re are [sic] currently investigating degraded availability affecting GitHub Actions, GitHub Pages and Webhooks.” www.githubstatus.com/incidents/8t...

After 10 years, I disabled my lobste.rs account. I think it's clear I am not a culture fit anymore with whatever it is they have going on there. I feel more and more like I don't belong in almost any tech community because I believe LLM agents are real, passkeys are good, and fascism is bad.

is there anyone who actually understands opencode go pricing??? paying $10 gets you $80 in deepseek usage, which is something like 1 to 3 billion tokens at api rates? i mean that’s really good for 10 dollars but it all feels a bit strange

This is good, of course, but I wonder if Trump made this decision because he found out Major Hasan doesn't fit the sir-sir-tears-in-his-eyes burly guy archetype, meaning the execution wouldn't look as good on primetime television. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/15/u...
