I love this energy

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

It's worth remembering that we all waited 12 billion plus years for a chance to play this game. The story is too short to stand by & let a few people ruin it for everyone when collectively we know we can do better.

Hey y'all! Going to be doing a short stream of Penguin Colony later tonight at 6pm PST! While horror isn't my usual bag, its both the reason for the season and this particular game is very important to me. Come join for some penguin shenanigans and eldritch horror 🐧

Welp, if I wasn't certain about dropping UE5 for Godot before, I am now. Goodbye forever, Epic Games. On a better note, getting refreshed in Godot feels great & the year away from tinkering it's added a lot of cool stuff. Feels more & more like Blender growing up over the years, which is a big plus

This is utter bullshit

Basically how I feel right now given that UE/Epic seems to be going off the deep end on AI nonsense. Godot is more fun to build in anyway. Now to spend a week porting my level & camera/movement system to validate true viability. I might be a bit giddy.

"And we're already starting to see the horrific results of this. As our own capacity to focus our attention is lost to this constant barrage of alarm and fear in media, we are sinking into a world ruled by those fears ... when we are afraid, we do not grow, we do not learn, and we do not flourish."

Today's one of those days where I simply cannot stop thinking. ADHD has gone completely off the rails. I'm going to attempt to go back to sleep & then ideally do some digital painting later to hopefully recapture my focus.

Another lovely day of this, but I managed to start re-inking a fresh take on am unfinished painting yesterday so I am pretty happy. Looking forward to more of this later today & plan to take my time instead of rushing & getting lost in the sauce

😊 It's taken so long to find this in person, now I can acquire the rest of the series. I could've just ordered it sure, but I find getting the 1st one special. I love Blue Period. I saw the series a few years ago & really wanted a physical copy. That starts now.

Can confirm the same scenes in the animated version that make me tear up do the same in the Manga. Ah, the desire for real connection. Few things strike me the way this makes me feel.

My account is not a political one. But I'll say this. Do not be complacent and do pay attention. Go fucking vote. And Blue, so that we can stop this hell. Assume all is lost without your vote, specifically. You never win by assuming others will hopefully carry your weight.

Absolutely nothing will stop me 👇

I'm pretty sure FedEx SmartPost is now my least liked shipping method. So. Slow. 😭 Something was scheduled for yesterday, then missed, then eod today, but that won't happen since it isn't on the truck, dest. Is PO Box so Monday at earliest since the post office is closed tomorrow. OG est the 1st..

Sometimes I wonder if Gen Z/Alpha are aware that mobile devices, computers & other tech all just had replaceable & swappable batteries and that you could get replacements at most random electronics stores without much trouble while keeping a spare or two with you if needed.

Instead of just jumping between zones in social VR, it'd be really fun if there was like a tour bus between zones or something, or one of those bike tour pedal things. Sometimes instantaneous movement is too convenient. Gotta appreciate the little things & add back methods appropriate to the medium.

An alternative might be requiring stuff like needing to smash a loading bar with a big hammer, or operate bellows to make an analog scooter or train go. Make transport feel novel, loading doesn't have to just be about that. It can be just as tactile as everything else.

Took a break from the monitor & got the aqua studio tgts brush library set up, i'm already in love. Fountain brush detailer, cloudy round, and toothy chisel are already favorites. Did a quick (1-2m) doodle of a random shoe & it sucks but I love the edge variation. This is fun 😊

Fwiw it does look a little better on the screen, taking a pic was kind of stupid. Ah well. Digital watercolor inks might be a really fun new style for me, I'll have to experiment more. The blending alone saves me hours. I'll see if I can re-do an old concept from 2013 tomorrow as an experiment

Finally mustered the energy to attempt the monitor repair on my Samsung Neo g9, and can't find my precision tool set. Welp, it didn't stop me. Back is off! Thankfully I have half a dozen soldering irons. Time to tinker.

Welp, got to where all guides seem to indicate the thermistor is under the heat pad, but the square on the corner of the board does not have a thermistor there & seems to be using a different board. Same issue but presenting differently, so seems I may need to go another route -__-

I'm obviously not happy Samsung's design is forcing me to delve this deep, but considering how much I paid for this monitor I won't let it go quietly into the night. Between the lack of reimbursement from work when I got it & the interest on my amazon card it's cost me close to 3k, so wake up buddy!

Honestly not sure how I never casually identified that polarization of an electric field is just vectors when it's literally in the definition. The way PBS phrased it in reference to the crystallization of space made it blatantly obvious. I love vector fields so this realization is amusing

For game dev I intend to have differing field densities that influence the magic system for my game so now I'll have to consider adding polarization to the mechanics for effectiveness or lack thereof. But it also means I can probably reuse the same base field, yay

If I ever run into Jimothy once I move to WA I think it'll be a fun time lol. The local fam of ~3 racoons here seem to like me & enjoy sitting on my doorstep watching me at my computer desk. They pose for selfies & sleep on the stoop. Cute lil guys. I just wish they'd stop moving my tools.

Yesterday was pretty great, but today was an absolute wash. Woke up fairly mad for little reason or outside influence, arms have felt tingly all day & I've heard ringing that I'd think was tinnitus if I didn't know better. I still have a ton I want/need to get done & I can't even sleep properly ugh

On the bright side I did manage to get some brush libraries set up yesterday at least. Now I just need to be calm enough to sit down & be able to focus on the canvas while my arms don't hurt. It's frustrating b.c. I really really want to do some art rn but the body refuses to comply

Scored a Steam Frame, yay! A ballsy offer worked & I am no longer a waitlister. Picked up my camera for it as well, now to check off the other tasks on my list & hopefully remember to eat :D

Yay, finally conscious enough to be considered awake by most standards. Now to attempt to disassemble my 49" monitor, finish a website, pick up the Aucturus camera for my soon-to-be-obtained Steam Frame from the PO Box, fix a leaky shower & remember to eat & drink some water.

Fml. I've been using Procreate all wrong. Somehow I missed the brush library switcher and have only been using the 'procreate library'. So the classic one has been out of sight/mind. I've been drawing everything, every texture manually. Welp, I was already quick so this'll feel light speed now 🫪

This is frustrating because not only do I have a ton of other brushes/tools for other programs, I'd been making my own to compensate. Not sure wtf caused me to miss this, but my wrists will hurt significantly less now via not having to manually detail 300dpi pixel by pixel 😂🫠

I do some dumb stuff sometimes (often) but this might take the cake as of late since I vaguely remember watching videos on setting them up & my brain decided to go poof w/ that info when I swapped to Concepts to draw my map in vector. OTOH I draw hair strand by strand so my wrists will still hurt 🫩

I'm v puzzled as to why I've been randomly getting as many compliments for my car when going through drive-thrus lately. It's an 03' 350z close it's last legs. 4+ mentions in just the past month. I can't tell if it's genuine since it's happened more recently than in the past ~8y that I've had it.

It would be one thing if it were just one place, but it's been separate businesses. At least tonight the guy also owned a 370z with a cool wing so it made more sense. He was shocked I only paid 3k for it 8y ago. Prob because his likely cost 5-10x more lol. But it's been reliable af until recently.

After I fix my monitor on Friday, I desperately need to make some proper art. I have a bunch of golden paint in storage, I'll probably still stick to digital but my goodness I have an overwhelming urge to just throw paint on canvas rn

Insomnia was not kind yesterday & I have stuff to do today sooo time to see if I can stay awake for another 13 hours because I sure as hell didn't sleep the last 8 lol

Apparently Tapas is being shut down. I have a solid number of purchases on there for multiple series, it's been a great app. When it's gone, what happens to all the comics I've paid for? Do they simply disappear to the ether?

I got waitlisted for Steam Frame. That's cool, it's not like I've been following since the day of announcement & joined the list at 9:57am PST because it was the last thing keeping me sane. If you'll excuse me I need to go slam my head on a desk repeatedly for a few hours.

I've decided this is a problem I can just throw money at to solve. I don't like the idea of it but I am done with this stress & waiting. Poor communication & timelines are not worth the trouble.

Friday I am going to disassemble my super ultrawide monitor & manually remove the thermistor. Using my side regular ultrawide monitor alone is far to strenuous on my neck & I have work to get done T__T

My 49" Samsung Neo G9 decided to not work once I got back from my trip, apparently due to a hardware flaw with the thermistor for leaving it alone for more than a week.. I really don't want to crack it open to fix it but I'm not going to let a monitor I spent ~2k on just die randomly due to a flaw.

It took less than 5 mins of walking out of the airport to start sweating. I already miss Washington T__T Now that PAX is over though & I'm back & Steam Frame launches Monday, I need to start looking for a new role & get my gallbladder sorted asap.

They finally got me, I upgraded to comfort for the legroom due to my bags lol My suitcase was 11lbs too heavy so that cost another bill, but easier than dealing with two Omw home now, unfortunately. Washington, soon enough; you will be my home.

Larches are super cool, Larix Laricina. I love the tiny pinecones. It's a bit early for a color change I suppose, but the branches are really cool

I received a free rupee from a super awesome skullkid in cosplay in the Gundam booth at PAX. My friend Alex whom I went to college with was running the booth as well so it was good to see him again, alas no free merch/swag though T__T
