To all students sending their applications my way! Since like last year or so, virtually ALL applications (internships, theses, …) sound basically exactly alike. The ones I always read and forward to my group to see if we find a supervisor are generally those that read different and hand-crafted.

👇 www.tagesschau.de/wissen/gesun... (HMB)

This is what makes it art: '(...) the publisher posted a blank white page with the cryptic phrase, “This article has been withdrawn due to article violation.” Springer Nature is nevertheless still selling the empty PDF for $39.95.' www.science.org/content/arti...

Measles vaccines save millions of lives each year. Measles used to be an extremely common disease. Just sixty years ago, over 90% of children would have been infected by it, and of those who developed symptoms, around a quarter would be hospitalized.

Fantastic news! This is a true success story that will inspire many basic scientists - passionate, curiosity driven research DOES pay off and can lead to products that directly help patients. Truely grateful that I could experience the largest part of the hepcludex journey from close by.

#Hepcludex (bulevirtide) is now approved for the treatment of chronic hepatitis D infection by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). With FDA approval, the hepatitis drug is now available in the most significant global pharmaceutical market. #HDV #HepatitisD ➡️ t1p.de/hepcludex-fda

Surprised to discover that Thermo Fisher appears to show a fake western blot for the validation of one of their p53 antibodies. I've added a diagram to show the very similar bands. This does not appear to be one of the "published figures" but their own internal data.

WHO has declared the #Ebola outbreak in DRC and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). First time this has been done without consulting an emergency committee. Extraordinary move that speaks to how concerning the facts on the ground look right now

WHO@who.int

Under the IHR (2005), @drtedros.who.int, the Director General of WHO, having consulted the States Parties where the event is occurring, has determined that the Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus in DRC & Uganda constitutes a public health emergency of international concern bit.ly/3P4ZDac

Voting can also defeat autocrats—an important lesson for all of us, at a time when even democracies once considered unshakable are being eroded from within and beginning to falter. I’m thrilled! Congratulations, Hungary! www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...

This paper started as an idea @albertomarina.bsky.social had many years ago… which of course means he was right all along 😄. Some of us just needed a few years (and a lot of experiments) to catch up. Grateful (and slightly humbled) to be part of this. Thanks Alberto! www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...

Unsere aktuelle Stelllungnahme: g-f-v.org/stellungnahm...
