I second that feeling. I have a book to ship to the US, which is OK, I have one or two orders from Ireland which are not. There are more trading changes coming that we need to check and cost up. So if our local MP @danjarvismp.bsky.social or his team reads this - this is a farce.

Polari Press@polari.press

Sadly we've had to pause shipping to Europe as the additional customs charges are just too much faff to work out properly. Seems ridiculous that we can post more easily to the US, Canada and Australia than we can to our nearest neighbours, but here we are. 🫠 Hopefully things will improve in future.

Thank you to @themillyjohnson.bsky.social for being in store this morning, for the paperback release of Let the Bells Ring Out. We have plenty of signed copies in store, with free gifts while stocks last! Milly will be back on Saturday 31 October, 9.15 - 11.15am. #booksky #choosebookshops

Just to repeat, this bookshop does not and will not stock books with any element of AI. Books are creative, entertaining, informative, and most of all human. If you need a voice to be given to you, directions, plot options, and other things listed here, you are not a writer.

‘Sudowrite, the “best AI for novel writing”, promises to maintain your ‘unique voice’. Whether or not you have a unique voice, it will give you scene directions and alternative options for the plot, and act as your editor.’ Alfred Nunney on AI and books, from the blog. www.lrb.co.uk/blog/2026/oc...

In reference to the other posts on the thread. I read the piece before commenting. The piece is descriptive of uses of AI in writing and in printed & published books. It may not be considered an 'endorsement', it certainly is not written in criticism.

We were closed yesterday morning due to a break-in on Sunday night. Waiting for CSI to do their thing. Added to other things we are a bit behind on posting things. So here are a few new books out today! Lee Child, Philippa Gregory limited edition, new Wimpy Kid, and four tales of feline crime.

We passed three years on bluesky a few days ago, from back in the invite era. Go us! I've been asked to do a 'recommended read' for a Year of Reading thing. Torn between an old favourite such as this which I'm about to re-read, and what I usually do which is focus on the new. #booksky 1/2
