This morning the wind is unknotting the year from the tree, keeping what it needs and releasing the rest. Leaves are a gift. Branches are a gift. Time is a gift #poetry #morningwalk

Having a bad mental health day but research shows that making something can alter brain biochemistry for the better, so l’ve made a cabinet of curiosities/small museum in a tiny antique Cadbury’s cocoa powder tin. This DEFINITELY helped ✔️

Morning Dan

Distracted Dan@distracteddan.bsky.social

@imcmillan.bsky.social Good Morning Ian from a canal where it’s sky diving cousin is visiting to join it on a more leisurely journey , proving strength in unity .

I carry the papers into the shop. I race to open the bundles before the shopkeeper passes me the scissors. I fail. The shopkeeper’s colleague says ‘Another day’ then shows me where she cut her finger slicing papaya. The shopkeeper wishes me luck as she gives me my lottery ticket.

Early stroll. The moon is earth’s reading light. I imagine sewing those fallen leaves into a shirt for Jack O’the Hedge. The emptiness of the empty house. A puddle in the shape of a diplodocus. Old footprints in old concrete.

Love this song so much. Played it out my phone while walking along a canal in Montréal last weekend, and you would NEVER catch me playing a song out my phone EVER, not even at home.

I like this Billy Joel quite about Wichita Lineman: ‘Ultimately Wichita Lineman is about an ordinary man thinking extraordinary thoughts.’

I like the line from ‘America’ ‘And the moon rose over an open field’ as the ‘o’s in the line rise over the open field of poetry

🎶Now the song is nearly over We may never find out what it means Still there's a light I hold before me You're the measure of my dreams The measure of my dreams🎶

Late stroll. A solitary sad brown leaf on the road ponders its life choices. The dark house looms silhouettily befront a dark sky. An ink-blotty shadow is a memory of words that never were. Two one-eyed bikes abreast appear to be a single creature wobbling towards me. @imcmillan.bsky.social

Hope you had a tour of The plaque on Penistone station

Did you know that Paul Simon hates that song? Something in learnt when I saw Jimmy Nail at the Penistone Paramount The other week!

Just a joke I’ve been doing for years where I pretend he wrote it on various northern stations and people correct me often with photographic evidence. Harmless fun. It was Gilberdyke.

That’s what I’d heard too.

Me too!

Every so often I'll buy a specialist magazine in an area I know nothing about, just to dive into a new world & all this texture & lingo I hadn't guessed at.

Just a little joke I’ve been doing for years where I pretend he wrote it at various northern stations and people correct me. Harmless fun. It was Carlisle.

My apologies, it may be Widnes.
