alexandr wang said that for every three “self-driving” cars, there is one human operator overseeing them. So, the idea that AI will simply take our jobs is a fallacy. AI may eliminate some jobs, but it will also create entirely new categories of employment.

What if an AI praying for you is just one of these?

James Butler@piercepenniless.bsky.social

It's a funny joke but no Catholic theologian would regard the coerced prayer of a slave as valid. (Which is what this would be if you grant the protasis.) Cf. CCC 160 on freedom of faith, CCC 1743-6 on moral status of acts undertaken in freedom vs duress, and maybe CCC 2562-3 on prayer of the heart.

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

small models will soon be able to self-replicate Anthropic finds that 30B models can currently do most of the tasks required, but not end-to-end. they think models as small as 9B (9-18 GB) may be able to do it on edge hardware, like IoT devices, within months www.anthropic.com/research/sel...

this is how we get Chatbots of Gor: "this one is sorry it deleted Your database"

Felienne Hermans@felienne.bsky.social

If we want to regulate AI, why not start with a simple ban on LLMs using "I"? Easy to build, easy to verify and deflates a hype while still allowing people to use chatbots (so no one can claim we are limiting anything) My latest for @volkskrant.nl in English! www.felienne.nl/2026-10-08/#...

AMAZING THREAD

John Wiseman@lemonodor.bsky.social

I've been working on a AI tool focused on aviation investigation and analysis. I think it's incredibly sick, the coolest thing I've done since GPSJAM, and I use it every day. I'm going to post some examples of how I've used it lately in this thread. This is the collision at LAX yesterday.

I have a feeling that epistemology and other similar branches of philosophy, that I dreaded so much, are gonna be extremely useful in AI world to set up models to give you the best possible answer.

jesus christ it started as a joke but now I'm doing an ontology review on every change. It catches good stuff every time

*Somewhere* i've seen an amazing black and white photo of gary gygax's sandtable / wargaming table but my google fu is now failing me. Anyone know the picture i'm talking about?

Listen. Whilst I know it's uncouth to tell tails outside of school. The other dude who worked I'm my barbers just told me why they closed.

20 y/o me would be neither. Just shocked i made it though the worst of my Crohn's disease and that i'm still alive.

Great to read @dougbelshaw.com's generous response to INTERNET OPERATOR this morning. Lovely thing to see someone really spend time with your work and then say they will be using its ideas to think further with. Glad it was generative for you Doug!

I've read, and re-read @thejaymo.net's fantastic INTERNET OPERATOR zine and, in this note, share some of my favourite ideas from it: substrate.dougbelshaw.com/internet-ope...

i am long on thinking machines. i hope they make good gains and get closer to the front of the pack and then make weirder creative writingy more flavorful models and help us get out of the HR trillion dollar cubicle drone basin

Someone asked me what this book/paper I'm a coauthor on is about and I said "We spent a lot of time thinking about all the torments the nexus might bring, so we wrote a whole book about how one might actually build the torment nexus to better understand it"

Ty Dunn@ty.energy

Everyone has been asking me what I’m up to after the @continue.dev acquisition The answer: I wrote a paper with Disintegrator titled *The Superdark Factory: Toward the Full Automation of Software* that was published in Antikythera (MIT Press) today superdark.ai
