Most of my monsters are supernatural in nature. They're things that don't, and shouldn't, exist in the natural world. A lot of the time, they're things that prey on humans. I take everyday places, events, people and detail (to varying degrees) what is on the periphery, emerging from beneath. Something you may well have seen yourself but supressed or forgot. A possible explanation for occasional weirdness you might well have experienced too. #HorrorWritersChat

I think I mostly use a mix of detail and dread. Most of my stories don't end well for the characters. "Something very bad is going to happen" is the general vibe a lot of the time. I usually try to include some haunting imagery, too #HorrorWritersChat
