The attitudes of Trump supporters and the policies Trump passes has been reminding me a lot of my time in Russia. But now, seeing national guard around cities and in metros, it REALLY physically reminds me of my time in Russia.

Liberals: “there should be consequences for schools that push political agendas and hate using debunked science, falsified history and Religious teachings, for the sake of public interest.” Conservatives: “noooo free speech!” *students protest the killing of civilians in Gaza Conservatives:

It all started when I saw a really strange, single comment on a post in the r/intelligence subreddit. The post was a weird, sci-fi philosophy sounding post with a single equally strange comment on it. I think the post was from a bot, and then I dove deeper in the comment which also seemed like a bot

The comment account had tons of posts and comments on AI community forums as well as others. It appeared the account always posted on celebrity subreddits or other main stream ones, but then slowly only became involved in ones about AI and AI learning. The account and the strange posts gave me pause

Are bot accounts interacting with other bot accounts and making one another contemplate the limits of AI and humanity on niche subreddits that only these bots find their way to based on algorithms? The conversations and posts were not human like on these strange subreddits. Was interesting.

Clearly John Fetterman wasn’t monitoring the different subreddits for federal workers. There was monumental agreement among gov employees to shut down as an alternative to hundreds of thousands losing their jobs unlawfully.

The weeks of performative “resistance” from those in my party were limited to undignified antics. Voting to shut the government down will punish millions or risk a recession. I disagree with many points in the CR, but I will never vote to shut our government down.

So many unnecessary shut downs over the years causing contract cancelations and late paychecks but the one time we actually needed our representatives to take a stand and do the hard thing, they caved. History will look harshly on this moment.

My friends in public sector are being laid off, are scared of being laid off, or just lost their pathway into public sector via PMF. My heart breaks for them. Trump supporters in my life are being so callous. They show empathy but then add caveats. You’re not empathetic if you add a caveat.

Even though Rubio promised life-saving aid wouldn't be interrupted, it has essentially been halted worldwide, interrupting HIV and TB treatment and threatening millions of lives. People are dying today because of these chaotic, inconsistent stop work orders. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/12/u...

Republicans at risk of being “primaried” by Trump and his billionaire goon squad should work with Dems to pass legislation that blocks unlimited funding to campaigns and ends super pacs. Fuck Citizens United, its consequences should end here.

As #Severance s2 finally streams tonight, I just wanted to say thanks to all the incredible fans who have waited so long and stuck with us. Our hope is you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. It’s never finished till you engage with it. So excited for the dialogue to begin. Praise Kier

My uncle’s husband worked for RFK and called him “the dumbest person he ever met” and an “absolute horror to work with” when I saw him at Christmas and I wish I pressed for more detailed stories but damn was he serious as hell when he said it.

The issue isn’t whether Universal Healthcare can work. The issue is how do we get from where we are to UH. It took Canada decades and it has a ton of limits we might not like. The point being we have to find a starting point that can grow it into what works here www.canada.ca/en/health-ca...

Mr Cuban since other developed countries provide healthcare with high life expectancy outcomes at half or less the US’ % to GDP, is it too ‘globalist’ to consider doing it the way others do it? Having been in both the Australian and US systems the latter is a complete cluster.

57 companies are responsible for 80% of global greenhouse gas emissions since 2016. These companies include fossil fuel giants like Chevron, Shell, and BP, who have been raking in record profits. The profits of Big Oil should not be more important than the future of our planet.

Just a small reminder there was never a time in US history where the government stoked mass hysteria over far right, fascist values that led to scapegoating, arrests, and people losing their elected positions, unlike what we saw with the Red Scare attacking the left, and I think that is significant.

I want to see Libs appropriate the term “pro life” in 2025. More gov assistance for single parents, free meals at school, more resources for social workers and the foster system, give out those lovely care packages Scotland and other nations give expecting mothers with necessities, no death penalty

I wish politicians talked less about immigrants and more about trains. With high speed rails, we would >create long lasting - high skill jobs >ease the burden on airports >generate revenue for government >increase tourism in the US (both foreign and domestic) >create more train enthusiasts

Blocking is such a nice feature. It’s so tempting to respond to someone else’s negative comment, but the argument that follows can suck. Instead of having to choose to not engage, you can still take action by blocking the user, and it gives a bit of satisfaction knowing you did something for urself

Let’s make it easier to sue healthcare companies for denial of payment for treatment. Let’s make healthcare companies held criminally liable for denying payment for life saving care. Let’s make it illegal for AI to process claims, it must pass human eyes. Eliminate for profit healthcare.

When I got to college my mom told me I had to watch what I said around her friends so I wouldn’t sound like a smartass. At dinner with her friends, I hear one friend say “I always ask for a straw when I’m in Palm Springs, I mean, because, you know, who knows how we get aids.”

I, reactionary and without thinking, very matter of fact, said “we do know how we get aids.” Then immediately covered my mouth thinking I was going to get chewed out by my mom. Everyone else at the table is laughing. I look at my mom and she whispers “ok that one gets a pass.”
