I just skimmed the whole top-200 list and I'm happier about some bands that were represented than I am mad about anything. Some real jams on that list too. Stuck Between Stations is the clear Hold Steady song for this list though, not Killer Parties.

the problem with the Drive-By Truckers' Complete Dirty South release is that I thought the original side four (Never Gonna Change, Lookout Mountain, Goddamn Lonely Love) was a perfect side of music and now there are three songs separating the first one from the other two.

I remember buying this thinking it was a live album when I was first getting into the band and wanted more more more. The title, double-cd length, and guitar on the front all suggested live record to me.

This might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard from him, which is incredible at this point. Like LeBron turning in a new all-timer.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Man, this is so true for me and S-K.

I just think if I was a long-running indie band I would take to heart how much of a reputational hit Sleater-Kinney took after pushing out Janet Weiss - like, a severe before-and-after in how people relate to that band. Maybe avoid such things?

Let’s have one. One of the things that keeps me hopeful is the idea that someday everyone that sacrificed goodness for convenience will see some consequence.

Billionaires, too. And maybe some chickenshit law firms and universities. Powerful executives cozied up to Trump. Now they fear a reckoning. www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...

Driver who accidentally got lost on the dead-end maintenance road bumps a tree right after bumping the "residents only" sign our HOA installed, get this, because _kids on bikes_ are such a destructive menace.

It is disheartening to get past my myriad hangups and splurge for something that ends up disappointing.

i’m not a calorie counter or anything but all the same it is mad depressing to eat something that’s just not worth the calories

Had a feeling the White Sox’s Campfire Milkshake was going in that direction but it sold out before I could try. Shoutout to the Yankees’ soft serve Apple Pie Nachos for being worth it.

The Butthole Surfers movie is now availble to rent on VOD, and dare I say, it's more heartwarming and tearjerking than the new Oasis doc

Quick headline digestion: I would much rather pay $500 to try the best Mexican restaurant in the world than $450 to see Dave Chappelle in 2026.

This is maybe my favorite new band discovery. I'm fascinated by their mystery and how what they're doing works so well when it really shouldn't.

The movie is Cobb (1994), which is about a terrible old racist desperately trying to perpetuate a misleading public image at the end of his life. The line illustrates to the audience how unlikeable he is in undeniable reality.

Casey Seiler@caseyseiler.bsky.social

Saratoga County’s GOP chair Joseph Suhrada claims he was merely quoting a movie line when he was recorded saying basketball was “a bunch of n____s running around in their underwear playing a f____t’s (game).” His point: Not everyone likes hoops. A GOP Assembly candidate is calling for his exit.

The audacity of people to think they’re the ones exempt from a strict and boldly-stated “no recording” rule. Bring the no-phone bags to every show.

“No one will notice,” they think, holding up their glowing rectangle high enough for the security clearly on patrol for that and that alone to notice.
