With more than 520,000 votes earned and a few polls still left to count, Olivia Chow will be elected with the largest raw vote total of any mayor since Toronto’s amalgamation in 1998. (Many more people in the city since Mel Lastman’s days, of course.)

If you want your campaign contributions used efficiently, the best way to do it is to go to the candidate's website and donate directly. Donating to state and local candidates is also more efficient as we do a lot of the administrative stuff ourselves, or have volunteers doing it.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

Canvass turf #2 today. Notes from the field: S Austin SFH neighborhoods are very motivated and many of these white libs have already voted or are voting this weekend N Austin middle income renter neighborhood ALSO enthusiastic though few have voted so they appreciate the early vote info.

This, exactly this. Polls are only a snapshot in time, not a guarantee. Go out to phone bank, canvass, etc. Got no time? Let me canvass for you and donate to fund my travels! I'll be canvassing to flip CA 48 red to blue tomorrow to retake the house! Venmo/CashApp @thewongmann

Voting against Measure RTM means you’re totally fine with all of these folks on this BART car x10 cars driving 24, 680, etc. instead of riding the yellow line during rush hour. Sounds like an absolute nightmare.

What Donny said! This is exactly why I'm canvassing all over the country this month! Started yesterday in VA-01 (suburban Richmond district) to help flip it red to blue.

5 things to remember about polling: 1. They aren't predictive 2. Aren't as precise as you think 3. There's been a proliferation of not-so-great polls this cycle 4. With the decline of local journalism, state-level polling quality is not very good 5. Polls are best when measuring attitudes over time

Coastal water levels in SoCal are running ~1.5' above normal because of a record-strength El Niño. Rachel's battering waves on top of these elevated waters are likely to cause significant coastal damage during Sunday morning's high tide, with all-time top-10 water levels at San Diego and L.A.

The Bay Area public transit #MeasureRTM polling shows 48% support, 34% opposed, 18% undecided. This means only 1 in 9 of the undecideds need to vote YES to get over 50%. Volunteer w the campaign now to help make this happen, opportunities listed here: 👇👇👇 luma.com/connectbayarea

A new poll finds 48% support for the Regional Transit Measure, revealing divisions over whether residents should pay more to preserve Bay Area public transportation.

"A small price to pay" to destroy our whole Pacific fleet and my hometown lol. He's so angry that Californians didn't vote for him that he doesn't care if basically much of our Navy is destroyed...

Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."

This kind of stuff really shows how anti-trans sports bans and policies meant to segregate trans people really have nothing to do with "competitive advantage." All this trans girl wanted to do was run for homecoming queen. Like the students would still have to vote for her to even win!

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Transgender girls have a biological advantage at... winning homecoming queen? That's apparently what Clayton County Public Schools in Georgia believes. They have blocked a transgender girl from running for homecoming queen in her high school Subscribe to support our journalism.

every dollar raised by Annie Andrews or Adam Hamilton or Angie Nixon by EOD today goes into the big master tally of donations they're going to start presenting to donors and strategists as soon as tomorrow in the hopes of proving they are worth taking a risk

if there's a Dem who you want to catch the eye of national funders and you have some loose change rattling around, now is the time to give it to them to boost their Q3 numbers so they can present a stronger case to national funders

Via @purrtah.bsky.social, the ActBlue machine is kicking into gear, which will shift ad spending dynamics a lot because it's mostly hard dollars.

A reminder that the Trump admin (esp Vance) wants to basically eliminate all higher education bc of the belief that colleges (esp liberal arts) are a breeding ground for liberalism.

The New Republic@newrepublic.com

While the Trump administration is framing the policy as “accountability” for higher education, and some are welcoming the move, others see it as an attack on those whose work is important regardless of salary. trib.al/1wK2qs8

It's also why when academics freak out about Trump admin clamping down on academic immigration- it's the point. They don't care that we are losing out on worldwide talent. They have a genuine belief that US talent is superior and that corporations can do the scientific advancements themselves 🫠

Having talked with literally thousands of people face-to-face this year about the coming transit cuts if we don't pass the Regional Transit Measure (RTM) I've encountered a surprising subset of folks who don't understand that: It costs transit agencies money to run service.
