I post mostly silly crap on here. Art I’m enjoying, junky movies I’m watching. But let me also be clear: Trans rights are human rights Free Palestine Prosecute ICE Fuck AI and anyone using it No war with Iran No war anywhere Housing is a human right Healthcare is a human right.

Morning, #Horrorsky. Got some cleaning and laundry to do so back to rewatches. #NowWatching Drag Me To Hell (2009) Watching the directors cut, which only like five seconds longer. But *what* a five seconds! #Filmsky

I made honey garlic chicken in the slow cooker today (the youngest helped), and I’m not saying it’s restaurant quality or anything but it so completely hit the spot for me. Most satisfying meal I’ve had in awhile. God damn!

Everyone should go see Wildwood. Mostly because it’s really good and worth seeing on the biggest screen possible with those theatre speakers. But also because you can see @letterboxd.social being a little silly with their star system. #Filmsky #Laika #Letterboxd

Alright, #Horrorsky, no Halloween season is complete without some Vincent Price! #NowWatching The Tingler I usually watch a bunch of Vincent each year around his birthday, but I haven’t seen this one in ages. It’s the only major film from him that I don’t own a physical copy of. #Filmsky

Oh man I forgot how much extra plot was in this. Vincent price and his unfaithful murderous wife, the silent theatre operator murdering his own wife, it’s quite a bit more tawdry than I remembered.

Another Scorsese real! But this one is at least horror adjacent. #NowWatching Cape Fear (1991) I’ve only seen this the once, and thought it was just OK, but also incredible watchable. #Filmsky

To be clear I’m not suggesting this inspired or informed Twin Peaks in any way. I just always thought it was a funny coincidence and was wondering if that came up at all.

Happy Saturday #Horrorsky. Had some unexpected free time for a movie so I opted for a recent Korean effort. Just finished Horror Express (2025), another movie about a live streamer who fakes their videos encountering a real haunted house. #Filmsky

act, but unfortunately the ending is pretty… disappointing. There’s one cool moment when the streamer first sees something horrific that they didn’t stage, and suddenly they stop reacting with the fake screams and dramatic ‘will I live?’ narration. They can’t even look at it. They stare at the

wall in stunned silence and then just run straight for the door. That was a nice turn, and I’m describing it here to spare you the rest of the film. 2 out of 5 stars.

The setup is decent but it takes so long to get to what could be considered ‘scary.’ At least 2/3s of this movie are just people faking paranormal videos and stressing about how their channel isn’t popular enough. With all that buildup the movie needs to have something up its sleeve for the final

Hey #Horrorsky! As we head into the final week before Halloween, I’m looking to branch out into recent non-American flicks. I try to keep on top of things but I’m curious; what are some great non-American horror pictures from the past 5 years or so? #Filmsky

Alright, the Borrower was a bust so I’m going with a movie that uses a very similar concept to much greater ends. #NowWatching The Hidden (1987) One of my favorite 80s films*. Body swapping alien that loves women, fast cars, heavy metal, and mayhem. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

Jack Sholder also directed Nightmare on Elm Street 2, which also had a small part for Clu Gulager. Also if I’m not mistaken the same dog from Nightmare 4 shows up in here.

How can a movie with Madchen Amick shooting a dog-headed man with a shotgun while her oblivious parents watch the Garbage Pail Kids movie upstairs be this lifeless? Fun stuff buried in here but it’s hard to recommend when The Hidden already exists.

Ok. Enough rewatches (for now). #NowWatching Habit (1997) Larry Fessenden is a filmmaker I admire more than I like his actual films, but I’ve never seen this, his breakthrough allegorical vampire flick. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

Really glad I went out to the Evil Dead screening tonight. As expected, it killed with an audience. Some legitimate screams from new viewers, belly laughs for all the sickos who’d already watched it multiple times. Really great q&a afterwards, lots of funny anecdotes. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

Now seated for Evil Dead (2013) I rewatched this two months ago but it’s one I find improves with a rewatch. Screening presented by Contra Celluloid at the Lumiere Music Hall. @ninjapleasedj.bsky.social always has some fun surprises for these events so should be a fun night. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

Closing out both franchises today. #NowWatching From Beyond the Grave (1976) I actually don’t think I’ve seen this one, so very excited for it. It’s streaming free on Hoopla, if you’re in America and have a library card. Get a library card! #Filmsky #Horrorsky

#NowWatching Wes Craven’s New Nightmare I’m full of hot takes about this franchise, but I think this one’s a bit overrated by fans, I love New Nightmare, don’t get me wrong, but something about it feels a bit underdone. The finale in particular is a bit of a letdown. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

I still really like it. A fitting end to the character and it’s easy to see why it’s been such a struggle to bring him back. I just wish it was a bit… tighter? I wish the ending were more metaphysical. More tied to the characters. Instead Nancy just stabs him a bunch and sets him on fire.

The American production team in Italy shooting BEN-HUR in 1925 lost two Italian extras playing legionnaires during their ship battle scene (full-size boats, ramming speed, etc) Fearing they were dead and dreading blowback from Mussolini’s fascist government, the crew destroyed the extra’s clothes

I don’t have the reference or vocabulary to unpack everything Camp Miasma is doing after only one viewing, but on top of everything else it’s great at speaking directly to the shared memory of the last couple generations of Monster Kids. #Filmsky #Horrorsky

In a very tactile way Camp Miasma recreated a very specific feeling I had around horror as a kid. Certain shots were like seeing my memories projected onscreen. Not as filmed reality, but as how those memories *feel* in my head. I don’t know how they did it.
