Happy UNEP emissions gap report day everyone, perhaps leven your existential dread with some rage this time.

The chance to keep global warming below 1.5°C with no overshoot is gone. But urgent action can still limit the overshoot and bring warming back to 1.5°C by 2100. Current policies, however, put the 🌎 on course for up to 2.8°C this century. New #EmissionsGap Report: https://ow.ly/SNHX50ZZz8l

The #Conservatives really fucking hate trees eh? As for that Andrew Griffith character, a truly wretched twat and presumably just one scandal away from a defection to #ReformUK. #CPC26

God the emotional rollercoaster of discovering a great act, finding out they're playing nearby in 10 days, getting excited with your far flung partner. Then discovering it's all seated at the Bridgewater Hall. Meh. Gutted. lesamazonesdafrique.com

lesamazonesdafrique.comLes Amazones d'AfriqueAmazones Power is out on 24 January 2020: the follow up to Les Amazones d'Afrique's critically acclaimed 2017 debut album. Les Amazones d'Afrique is a creative force that embraces international voices...

So I reckon a foreign power ordered a load of loom bands and air fryers from Amazon and asked for them to be delivered to #RAFFairford, police grab the drivers.

Just a thought, but are there not parts of modern society it might be beneficial for AI to destroy? For instance, what if we trained the agents to go after the billionaires, relentlessly?

So apparently we've reached the stage where Richard Branson is brand ambassador for the Protection of Civilians agenda.

Civilians are paying a heavy price for the world’s conflicts As the number of people becoming casualties of global war zones rises, more must be done to protect them and find strategies to prevent further atrocities ✍️ Richard Branson https://bit.ly/3ViuId1

Sitting with a beer watching the world go by thinking of how often I enviously look at people sitting with a beer watching the world go by.

1/23 Sorry, this will be long... There is a lot of shouting about what happened in the Channel yesterday. So I want to go back to basic law. Not immigration policies or political rhetoric. At sea, the starting point is simple: Preservation of life comes first under all maritime conventions.

Emma Yeomans@yeomans.bsky.social

Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics. A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat.

Paid for diesel with cash for the first time in ages earlier. Managed to stop the pump at £19.99, had a £20 note. Abs buzzing. The lass said she'd add the penny onto the next person's change as I strode out. Best litre of diesel ever.

Today about 100 people took part in a mass trespass in the Prime Minister’s constituency. There’s a right to roam over just 1% of Makerfield, & today the landowner proved our point for us: putting up fencing & calling the police. @andyburnham.bsky.social - please open the door to the countryside!

So if you dress in black and threaten violence the police let you do your thing and finish at your leisure. Better to avoid creating the risk of confrontation and with it a threat to public order. Hard to imagine any problems with this policy.
