I'm grateful to live in a country that doesn't hide its history, and attempts redress. There is no future without that. Having said that, I urge us all to work harder on this. The pace is dreadfully slow, and I worry that we are leaving too much for our children to correct. If not now, then when?

@justinwolfers.bsky.social The "shoe maker" analogy doesn't fit the AI narrative for me. I think there are more lessons to be learned from how the Longshoremen handled the move to shipping containers. Now 1/10 of what they were, but they had the power to negotiate a financial pact for their members.

@mark-carney.bsky.social Why did the Canadian Federal gov't stop its social housing efforts, in contrast to France, Austria, etc.? Transferring it the provinces was a disaster - So when you look at purchasing condos, why not re-institute our social housing program, and re-join the EU's approach?

@mark-carney.bsky.social Please acknowledge Dr. Shiv Chopra (1933-11-21 : 2018-01-07) A great example of immigrants contributing their skills, integrity and passion to the benefit of all Canadians. Echos your declaration "Canada has given me everything—I am ready to give everything for Canada"

@mark-carney.bsky.social I applaud who you have selected to represent us and all Canadians. Fri in a show of support for the Arctic island, Canadian FM Anita Anand will inaugurate the diplomatic mission in the capital, Nuuk, accompanied by a delegation of Canadian Inuit.

Norway learned how to structure and create their sovereign fund in Canada. Using the same oil economy and in harder conditions www.cnbc.com/2026/01/29/n... What happened in Canada to lose our way? @mark-carney.bsky.social can we navigate back in that direction, or is that moment lost

First full attempt at consomme using a more scientific approach. e2e in under an hour, instead of like a full day. Got myself an instant pot for my birthday and trying out some non-traditional approaches to dishes that take far too many hours.

Maybe even a capped plan of 2k/yr, that's like $78 B, using a 3% admin is like $2B. That's less than some states have given to management consulting firms to prop up their medicare expansion (usually a failure). So you'd be way ahead of the curve. Sprinkle any used amounts into next years caps.

So, I had to put on my coat when going for a walk this morning, and as I'm working away I look out the window and am like "is that a dog swimming in the lake?" - it's actually a person swimming!?! And yes, that is snow on the hills across the lake.

Basic coverage for everyone in an expanded medicaid/medicare, by a group already set to manage claims. CEO, "it's ok to be paid well, just not to do wasteful things. Waste means your neighbour doesn't get that knee replacement they need" You'll hear all the staff repeat that.

They lead by example, fitness, fruit-days, etc. Showing how to keep a healthier workforce. You won't see this CEO in Forbes, since his package is more modest, as he also believes in delivering to his members, and now server as chairman. That ethos is baked into that group.

Me: why is my hummingbird shivering Gemini: Hummingbirds can enter a state of torpor, where they rapidly lower their body temperature and slow their heart rate to survive until morning. This process can look like shivering and is a vital survival technique for them.

especially with incentives and targets being scaled back. It'd be nice too to have similar renewable rebates, tax breaks, like Washington state has for home based solar and smaller community projects.

www.w3.org/TR/vc-data-m... where I can just apply my proof of age, would be helpful. Most places won't have that though, and countries applying those laws won't instantiate a Person Credential and system to support that.

To be clear: this is yet another reason why many of these laws are so problematic. If people want to run fediverse instances of any size, the fact that costly age verification requirements could put them in legal jeopardy, is very bad. Regulators make laws as if every website is Facebook.

Hate and discrimination have no place in BC and equality isn’t up for negotiation. Everyone deserves to live in safety, free to be who they are. And we will always defend these rights.

I know I shouldn't, but as I sit in a restaurant in Victoria waiting for my wife, the young couple at the next table is excited. Since @mark-carney.bsky.social won, mom is going to buy that condo to be closer to us. If it went differently, she would've waited. Elections have consequences! Good ones!

A change to our voting should happen. Where votes are split across 3 groups and no one decisively gaining the popular vote, secondary rounds & choices should kick in.
