★★★☆☆ Jean Brodie is a monster. At least, she used to be. Scotland became fond of Muriel Spark’s creation, which is odd, because Miss Jean Brodie is, and always was, a fascist. arts.thurible.net?post_type=re...

★★★★☆ Macbeth is dead but the witches remain. What carries on when the normal rituals of daily life have been wiped out by a tyrant? Stones. Staves. The ability to move together, speak together and sway together. Out of the ruins of war, new rituals will arise. arts.thurible.net/review/thrice/

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played

Following the example of the LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD, I have decided to change the name of our local river here in the West End of Glasgow. I have signed an executive order to change its name to the RIVER KELVIN. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

“Those prayers have faces now. Faces that I won’t easily forget.” Come to this post for the complex ecclesiastical politics, stay for the powerful internationalism (that should/must be) at the heart of the church.

I have the same mistake in my Kalendar so it is possible that you got it from me. And this may be used as an example of how to understand the Q hypothesis.

The AIDS Quilts exhibition are being shown at the Tramway in Glasgow this September, I’m going to be doing a series of workshop, interviews and I want to view the quilts with some of you and record your thoughts/sobbing

I think a lot of people who have previously voted Labour want different policies and behaviours from the Labour Party more than wanting it to have a different leader.

Here at St George's Cross we are in the middle of the annual Feast day revels and the festooning of the dragon is almost complete. The parade route this year takes in all the local schools and will be led by a hundred primary school children with kazoos. The sun is shining and the bunting is up.

Hi, on this #TDOV, I’m Rachel … the first out trans priest in a senior role in the Church of England. I am also a writer, award-winning poet and theologian, and a broadcaster. Being trans is great, ordinary, and frankly not the most interesting thing about me. I love being me! #TransDayOfVisibility

Today is the Transgender Day of Visibility. Trans folk are part of St Mary's Cathedral, Glasgow. Although like most institutions we have much to learn, I hope St Mary's can continue to be a place of welcome. Also visible to me is the relentless oppression of trans people in the media and daily life.

Here's @pinknews.bsky.social completely misunderstanding the church. The new Archbishop supported the LLF process which sought to bring about faux blessings to prevent equal marriage. There isn't a shred of evidence she is in favour of equality.

Tried to bless the otters for St Cuthbert's Day but ended up blessing the swans as they were building a nest. (It begins again). Saw a dipper as well as the usual suspects. Heard wren, blackbird, song thrush and lovely goldfishes.

What nonsense. Those opposed to Trumpism still have no leader and no policy other than not being him. (A policy that didn't seem to win elections).

This, along with my belief that until we live in a society where disabled people are truly valued and given a voice we will never be safe, is also my primary reason for opposing a change in the law on assisted dying.
