Nolan McLean, Luis Torrens, and Carson Benge are all finalists for an NL Gold Glove award. The winners will be announced on Sunday, November 1st at 8:30 pm ET on ESPN. The last Met to win a Gold Glove was Juan Lagares in 2014.

The other members of the major-league coaching staff are all expected to return for 2027.

Mets announce that director of hitting Jeff Albert, quality assurance coach Danny Barnes and batting practice pitcher Kevin Mahoney will not return to the major-league staff next year. They could still return to the organization, but they are free to discuss jobs elsewhere.

The Mariners’ win last night locks in the Mets’ lottery position. They have the fifth-best odds (8.68%) to win the No. 1 pick. They have about a 60 percent chance to stay in the top six. (Reminder: Their pick drops 10 spots if it falls out of the top six.)

⚾️ NEWS (w/@EvanDrellich): Why because of the media rights deals 60 games will be a leverage point during the expected lockout. Will the owners still be paid their $2B+ in rights even if there are no games? Answers www.nytimes.com/athletic/762...

NYM 7 TEX 2 Final Nolan McLean was terrific. The Mets are playing spoiler quite capably this week, all while wondering what could have been had they played in the AL West. The Mets are 73-85.

It's a 1-2-3 eighth for Williams on 13 pitches. With Seager, Jung and Nimmo due up in the ninth and Kodai Senga having pitched last night, it's Cionel Perez getting loose in the New York bullpen.

Nolan McLean's outstanding rookie season is (presumably) concluded with a gem: 7 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K. If the Mets' bullpen holds this one-run lead (starting with Devin Williams' return to the mound here in the eighth), McLean will finish the season 12-10 with a 3.16 ERA.

The Rangers had the bases loaded and nobody out against Sean Manaea in last night's fourth inning. They have made 30 outs since without a single hit. 12 up, 12 down for Nolan McLean tonight.

The Mets pour out of their dugout and tip their caps to Howie Rose in the broadcast booth. "That's a lot, man," Rose says. "Thank you guys. Appreciate it. They'll never know how much that means to me."

Tong is back on the mound for the second inning.

Mark Vientos' toss to Jonah Tong at first base led him right into a collision with Bryson Stott to end the inning. Tong limped a bit back into the dugout and right down the steps into the clubhouse. It's 2-0 Phillies in the middle of the first.

From Andy Green, a CT scan on Jared Young came back negative. While he is experiencing concussion symptoms, he does have full use of his extremities. “It feels like we’ve avoided the scariest outcomes,” Green said.

Stock called the last six weeks “a dream come true.” He hopes he’s still in the conversation for teams as a major-league option this winter.

Robert Stock, placed on the IL today with numbness in his fingers, said medicine should remedy the circulation issues he’s currently experiencing. Could have tried to pitch today, but Mets couldn’t take that chance with a short bullpen after extras last night. Xzavion Curry starts.

BAL 7 NYM 5 Final/11 Pete Alonso tied it in the ninth with his 300th career homer. Coby Mayo hit a three-run inside-the-parker with two outs in the 11th. The Mets will finish with a losing record. The Mets are 69-82.

BAL 2 NYM 1 Final The Mets celebrated their past (Pete Alonso) and felt encouraged about their future (Jonah Tong). In the present, they were mathematically eliminated from the postseason picture. The Mets are 69-81.

Shortly after Pete Alonso flew out to Carson Benge in RF, the "Pete Alonso" chants were replaced by "Fire Stearns" chants at Citi Field. Meanwhile, Jonah Tong's first inning in Alonso's homecoming went a lot better than his first inning in deGrom's.

NYM 0 NYY 2 Final Cam Schlittler was dominant. Christian Scott was very good, done in by a pair of solo homers. If the Padres and Diamondbacks both win later today, the Mets will be mathematically eliminated from the National League postseason picture. The Mets are 69-80.
