Treaty 6 was signed in 1876. Treaty 7 was signed in 1877. Treaty 8 was signed in 1899. Alberta joined confederation in 1905. This was treaty land before Alberta existed. This is still treaty land.

Alberta is restricting when the Treaty 6 and Métis Nation flags are flown at schools to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Pride flags will NEVER be allowed to fly. But you can fly the Vatican City flag. www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/art...

222,000 separatists signed the petition. About 2x that voted for option 2 on the softest of soft questions, with up to 2/3 of those not wanting separation but to send a message to Ottawa. Separation in Alberta is a tiny, fringe movement of a couple hundred thousand people. Max.

Voters in Canada's oil-rich province of Alberta have rejected a proposal to begin a process toward independence, results showed early Tuesday, delivering a victory for supporters of Canadian unity. n.pr/3Wjzk2Z

As a proud Albertan and an even prouder Canadian, I’d regret watching Canada break apart without contributing my skills. So I funded a study to understand Albertans’ concerns about separation. #ableg #cdnpoli #foreverCanadian 1/4

My findings reached the Prime Minister’s Office this summer. Hearing Mark Carney reference “years of deep uncertainty” and “lost opportunities” in Calgary on October 15 was a proud moment. Those themes echoed my research. 3/4

Please make your voice heard and cast your ballot on October 19. Vote no to the 9, and reject separation. Canada is worth it. This research was personal. My original post includes the findings and companion paper on investment uncertainty. 4/4 bsky.app/profile/timg...

What if Alberta left Canada, and Albertans left Alberta? In my survey of 352 randomly sampled Albertans, 49% said they would seriously consider moving to another province following a separation vote. 1/3

Three concerns Albertans have about separation stood out: years of uncertainty, personal financial harm, and eventual absorption into the United States. At least one ranked among the top two concerns for 83% of Albertans. 2/4

Start now: understand your workforce and customer demographics, test rewards that address real employee needs, and align growth plans with delivery capacity. Tomorrow’s opportunity means little without the people to serve it. 3/3

The Great Resignation in the US showed how quickly workforce assumptions unravel. But why should employees choose you? “Competitive pay and benefits” sounds like everyone else. Understand their frustrations and offer something meaningfully different. 2/3

Well said! I feel embarrassed/apologetic to my relatives in other provinces, as this debacle is causing them unneeded stress/worry. They may not realize these seppies are a fringe minority whose voice has been amplified by our hapless premier🤬 #ableg #cdnpoli

Voted in the Alberta referendum - voted proudly to remain in Canada. Alberta is stronger in Canada, and Canada is stronger because of Alberta. Separatists push division, distort facts, & sell chaos as “freedom.” It’s bullshit. Their lies weaken AB, not strengthen it. #ableg

Happy thanksgiving long weekend Canada. Wonderful being back home for the first one in many years. Thankful to call this amazing country home.

Why would the best and brightest immigrants even consider Alberta? Or the best from other parts of Canada?

The bill can arrive before the ballot. My investment research examines how uncertainty delays business commitments. AB could win the right to go it alone while losing the people & investment that make it strong. People & investment could leave before AB decides whether to. 3/3

Three fears dominate: prolonged uncertainty, personal financial harm and absorption into the United States. At least one ranked among the top two concerns for 83% of respondents. These are questions separation advocates must answer. 2/3

Canada historically bought more than 40% of US light-vehicle exports. The actual numbers are more important. In Q1/Q2 2025, Canadians bought roughly 346,000 US-built vehicles. In Q1/Q2 2026: roughly 270,000. That is about 76,000 fewer US-built vehicles sold in Canada.

Where did the business go? Mexico: ~179,000 → ~211,000 +32,000 Japan: ~134,000 → ~158,000 +24,000 South Korea: ~142,000 → ~148,000 +6,000 Those three countries gained roughly 62,000 Canadian sales.

Canada is moving away from US-built vehicles. US: -76,000 Mexico: +32,000 Japan: +24,000 South Korea: +6,000 That lost Canadian volume will be hard for the US Big Three to replace, putting pressure on plants, margins and jobs. Chinese EVs aren’t available for sale. Yet. Canada has no power?

Efficiency gains can quietly erode competitive advantage. Drawing on my DBA studies, I explore how strategy frameworks help leaders protect essential capabilities, challenge cost-cutting assumptions, and preserve future performance.

$500B in new investment into Canada. Negotiating associate membership with the EU. Canada had a pretty good week! And it’s just Friday... how refreshing and inspiring it is to have a smart leader in charge. #CanadaStrong Think our PM deserves a tall cool one this Friday afternoon.

Canada is building a deeper alliance with the EU so that we may write our own futures — with our values, and our ambitions.

Loved my DBA class this weekend. Organizations are political systems, not machines. Diagnosis and change hinge on coalitions, history, power and interests. Business takeaway: problem ownership determines which intervention, structure or strategy can work. #haskayneBusinessSchool #DBA

Protectionism won’t save the US auto industry. 40% of US made autos are bought in Canada. Anyone wanna guess how much that drops in the future?

Shielding US Car companies from this competition will just ensure they lose the ability to compete anywhere outside the US. Imagine how quickly we could convert to EV if a new car cost $6000 in the US!

The hardest decisions often demand expertise we don’t have. Mortgages, retirement plans, healthcare. We’re asked to choose among complex trade-offs, then live with consequences we barely understood.

Employee engagement leaves fingerprints on the P&L. In 1,700+ retail stores, engagement predicted cleaner stores, and cleanliness was the customer-experience measure most consistently linked to sales and profit.
