And just like that we hit $500,000 for @childsplaycharity.bsky.social this year! We sang Africa (as is tradition) for all of your amazing support! desertbus.org/donate

Abolish #summertime! #Wintertime is the most natural, and scientifically proven better for psychological and other reasons. #DST

This morning, the D&D team and Magic's Studio X informed our leadership of our intent to unionize. We love the games we make and the work we do, and unionizing is how we protect that work. unitedwizardsofthecoast.com/news/dnd-stu...

Got a weird email from #Stripe at my Oqaasileriffik account, regarding an unrelated GrammarSoft and SDU relationship. An odd unforced error since another of my emails is listed on GS's site. Then I noticed "[This email is sent by an #AI #Agent]" and it made sense. Fuck all the way off, Stripe.

for two months, I've been flying drones over Flock cameras to situation them in space and geography; I even got my commercial drone license in order to do it. I'd like to share this project with you all: it's called Records Of Enemy Surveillance: recordsofenemysurveillance.com

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

Whelp, 61% of #Debian voted to allow generative AI/LLM contributions, and to not even require disclosure of use. 39% of us voted to restrict/ban such use.

The Odyssey (www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_odysse...). People told me it would be worth watching in cinema, but it definitely could have waited. It's a very loud movie - several places where I'd have liked it mixed way down. Everything was just a little underwhelming. Rating 6/10. #movie #review

Looks like r/all is now also gone from sh.reddit.com, so there's only old.reddit.com remaining. Sigh. The #enshittification of #Reddit continues apace.

www.dr.dk/nyheder/poli... - Skammeligt at Danmark ikke kan få kirken ud af staten. Ansæt dog en psykolog i stedet.

SCOOP: In early June the European Commission unveiled its Tech Sovereignty Plan, which emphasized their commitment to #OpenSource. Just recently, they migrated their main ATproto accounts to #WSocial, a for-profit network that has quietly gone closed-source. blog.elenarossini.com/w-social-pub...

#Firefox added a built-in World Cup widget without asking users if they wanted it. Even if you like sports, and I do not, supporting #FIFA and USA in such a direct way is rather off-putting behavior from #Mozilla. No ephemeral event should get built-in support. Make an extension instead.

There are #Japanese tourists at the same hotel I'm at here in #Nuuk, #Greenland. Did not expect to hear Japanese over breakfast.

Sitting in the train to Copenhagen, with several people sniffling and sneezing, and surrounded by perfume clouds, I envy the Japanese / East Asian mentality of wearing masks when you are sick and keeping your odors to yourself.

All these privacy-focused #search engines are fine and dandy, but are there any independent search engines that DOES remember and profile you? I actually like that Google surfaces results relevant to my search history. #DeGoogle

Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things" is so incredibly whiny. Instead of taking personal responsibility in your relationship, let's plead with god. Utter rubbish. #music

Given the #Lastfm news, I wondered what my lifetime stats were. Joined 2004-11-13, with 91000 scrobbles, 1300 artists, 2053 albums, and 9202 tracks.

I feel like we don't talk nearly enough about how cool and good Loading Ready Run is

www.dr.dk/nyheder/indl... - En sørgelig tendens at unge tilsværger en tro de egentlig ikke har. De bør i stedet tage en #humanistisk #konfirmation.

There is no ethical consumption of HBO’s Harry Potter series

Project Hail Mary (www.rottentomatoes.com/m/project_ha...) is much better in movie form than the book was. Only a few things missing that would have improved it. Rating 9/10. #movie #review

Whelp, #Trakt shat the bed with a forced UI update that makes desktop/browser a third class citizen. Time to move to something else, probably #Yamtrack

soundcloud.com/booback/hall... has been on my 5-star playlist since 2016-04-11. An excellent rendition of #TheSettlers game music by Alexander Hallberg (BooBack).

#fv26 #fv2026 #dkpol

Migrated to Eurosky.social. Still a little skeptical in the long run of the service, but figured we won't know 'till we try.

www.dr.dk/nyheder/peng...

An unfortunate fundamental design flaw in @proton.me Drive is that photos are not handled as files. Can't see photos from the Drive file manager, and Photos can't see pictures uploaded to Drive. #Proton

edition.cnn.com/2026/01/28/t... - "Tourists trust #AI more than review sites" + "90% of itineraries that AI generates have mistakes in them" = those tourists are idiots.

#Google Workspace price increase when it renews in a month? Well, guess I have a deadline for completing the #DeGoogle process for those domains. Already got #Nextcloud for files. Still need email + groupware + mailing lists (mailman).

#DeGoogle is hard. There is seemingly NO usable OpenDocument Format (odt, ods, odp, etc) editor for #Android. #Collabora has no pageless/continuous/web view or true dark mode. #OnlyOffice requires awful OOXML formats. #Nextcloud Notes is only Markdown.

youtu.be/eFvxqQTh3m4 feels poignant. #Venezuela

Merry #Yule!

This is your annual reminder that #Yule is not religious. It's not #Christian or #Christmas or anything else. Everyone can celebrate Yule as the festival of the light it is; that the darkest days of winter are behind us.

www.dr.dk/nyheder/sene... - sjældne? Der ringer kirkeklokker døgnet rundt over hele landet. Jeg går ind for at forbyde alt offentlig religiøs larm.

And as the donations go brrrrrr we have hit $1 million at #DB2025 for @childsplaycharity.bsky.social Thank you all for your amazing support!

Ladies, Gents and all between and beyond. Desert Bus 2025 is now departing for fun, joy, hijinks and a whole lot of hope! Let’s prepare to get silly for a good cause! desertbus.org

The bus hasn’t even got the wheels on and we’re already rolling! Graham, Johnny and Jordynne sat for an interview this afternoon with Rogers TV’s John MacKenzie, speaking about the trials, tribulations and triumphs of the good work we do here.
