🚨 BREAKING: The UK Labour Government have approved the Jackdaw gas field. This a devastating betrayal of future generations. Jackdaw will make the UK even more dependent on the global gas market. This will do nothing to lower household energy bills and it is dishonest to pretend that it will.

It's been 2 years now and I can solidly say all the repair to my psyche and relationship with the online world cohost dot org helped me with has been undone severely by all the other ways I spend my time online being Very Bad.

Federation doesn't solve shit. Metrics rot your brain. Fuzzy search makes everyone an eye of sauron during bad times. Microblogging is the worst format for communication. I'm not fond of how any of this is going.

I know I'm late to this party but can someone send a letter on my behalf to the firefox UI designers about how contrast is one of the most valuable tools available.

Also can we connect the tabs back to the searchbar/page/viewport/whatever we're calling it to better communicate the connection between tab and page we're viewing. I know that's how chrome does it so it's embarrassing to not be innovating, but sometimes boring is quite good.

Our Jerry's Map documentary was screened at an art museum in Michigan over the weekend, followed by a Q&A with the man himself. Love love love this. Photo credit: Nik Burkhart

installed a stylus script that removes numbers from posts and profiles and also added bsky search to my leechblock absolutely-not list. Feeling less like my attention is being constantly baited by this bad website.

dont think going to London and back in one day was a great idea but I did get this out of it

Lovely to finally see this – A worker-led, worker-oriented inquiry answering questions about how people are experiencing "AI" deployment today, in real workplaces in the UK. "Right to Refuse, Question, and Challenge" is lovely to see.

Everyone’s talking about AI, but no one’s actually asking workers how it’s affecting us. So we’ve done it ourselves. Today we are launching the AI Workers’ Inquiry, a new study led by workers themselves, into the way AI is changing work. Read it at go.utaw.tech/ai

Qualitative Research that centres people on the ground is so much more important than "culture war" framings we're starting to see in this space. There are solid, material experiences people go through. It's important to centre it!

i'm still trying to think how i would answer "why take pictures of nothing" in a way a tesla owner would understand. "finding beauty in the mundane is a based epic meme", or maybe "taking a lot of pictures to hone my skills is sort of like farming reddit karma". i just don't know. it's baffling...

Wild to think that I ended up doing the Scottish Mammal series after brain storming ideas for a third pattern book. One of ideas evolved into something more. I've working on and off this art project for nearly a full year now with 20 finished designs with the Scottish Wildcat as the starting point.

ftr, I've had the creative bevians discord invite linked purposefully closed due to the sheer amount of attention my article received. It'll be up again sometime next week or ask nicely.

11 months of the year Edinburgh is a pretty good place to live. The fringe is a local festival of perseverance under conditions of infrastructural collapse and social disruption, to make us appreciate what we have and prepare for a difficult future.

The discord link on creative.bevians.com is now public if you're interested but did not want to send over an email :) #bevy #rustgamedev

When I say "being in a mosh pit rn would fix me" I'm almost always thinking of this band and often I'm thinking of this song.

Why? Why must everything we enjoy be sealed up with a "grade"? I get baseball cards being put in plastic because you can still enjoy both sides of the card. But a Blu-ray?
