Probably more helpful to think of them not so much as “Canadian wildfires” but rather “climate change wildfires currently consuming Canada”

For the first time in decades, consensus broke at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The United States cast the lone “no” vote on a document aimed at improving justice systems for women and girls worldwide. Misogyny is the official policy of the US under Trump.

If you can automatically register them for the draft... You can automatically register people to fucking vote.

Eligible men will automatically be registered into the military draft pool by December as part of an effort to streamline the previous process of self-registration and save money.

[FOUNDER'S BRIEF - @rhettayersbutler.bsky.social] Trained in marine biology, Gayatri Reksodihardjo-Lilley recorded the decline of once-vivid ecosystems. But over time, she realized that the reefs would not heal through data alone. “Managing those resources means managing people,” she once said.

Folks a conservation hero passed today. Gayatri made a massive impact in Indonesia for her beloved Les Village and worked with the community to make lasting change throughout Indonesia. I was so looking forward to visiting with her again.

It costs ~$70 to produce a year’s supply of insulin. Yet, the average annual cost of insulin went from $2,864 in 2012 to $5,705 in 2016 to $18,000 in 2025. A 25,714% markup. That isn’t inflation or supply chain—It’s corporate greed. Now—California will sell insulin for $11. Make this nationwide!

If you're new around here: The actions taken by the Trump administration against FEMA have made it impossible for FEMA to effectively respond to any large disaster. This is what we have been warning about for the past six months. I'll drop some links if you need to catch up. It's alot.

Hey #science - let’s not lose sight of the damage pulling grants has done. Can we start using a +/- index for our grants? I had 2 EPA and 1 USAID grants pulled from me, so I’m -3. What is your #SciencePlusMinus?

For the academics in the audience- Anyone teaching #sustainability this semester? What messaging are you using about the current US actions? We start next week and I’m trying to figure out what our students need most.

I agree with much of what Michael wrote, yet deplore a lack of vision. We show no sign of eating less meat, as he writes, because so few journalists explain to us the huge benefits this would bring, for the planet, our health, our wallets.
