What did we see upon 1st touching bottom, at 10,900+m depth w/in #ChallengerDeep? A BEER BOTTLE! 😫 Further evidence that we MUST as humanity do BETTER by the ocean and for the health of habitats that we ourselves share & ultimately depend on!!! #ThereIsNoPlanetB #DeeperSeaDawn

Meanwhile, happiness is new computer setup for the home office, which also prompted me to FINALLY thoroughly clean 🧼 this space 🙃🥹 and rearrange the toys. Thank you to Esri for replacing my old 2020 iMac on its last legs with a new Apple-Silicon-chip Mac Mini 🏎️ 💨

Deep sea mining is not necessary. We have all the metals we need on land surfaces. The only reason people want to do this is that it might be cheaper to indiscriminately scrape the sea floor rather than responsibly mine and later restore terrestrial landscapes.

A study in the South China Sea found that a deep-sea mining trial significantly disrupted the microbial ecosystem, altering nutrient cycling and energy flow. 🌊

Happy #NoKings Day/Weekend! I just VOTED 🗳️, and doing so by road bike (pic 2) all the more empowering and satisfying! ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 Please #VoteEarly !

Meta took down the No Kings organizing page today - the biggest day of protest this fall. They provided zero explanation. It stayed down for the entire afternoon until most of the protests were done. Outrageous. Put this on the January investigation list.

Very few people study air-water gas exchange, which determines how quickly the ocean takes up atmospheric CO₂. But because of marine CO₂ removal, everyone is throwing the term "gas exchange" around. So here's everyone's chance to attend a gas exchange meeting to learn and share. www.gtws2027.se

How fun! A SpongeBob episode on my hotel TV that I had NEVER seen before! SpongeBob and Patrick take Mr. Krabs’ new submersible “food truck” on the road to sell more Krabby Patties, diving into a trench along the way! 🤣 🌊 🦑

I’m in my local newspaper talking about biking and bike infrastructure because I was ranting about it on social media.
