Pinned policy post. If you personally insult me, I will tell you, and mute you for a random duration. If you persist, it's a block. I tend to follow far too many people. Every now and then I cull a RANDOM selection for my sanity. If I unfollow you, this is why - it's not personal.

Wife asked me if she'd like "What Remains of Edith Finch" and I descended into a 5-minute rant about how "walking simulator" is a stupid name and all the Kids These Days (now turning 40) ignored the pleas of the greybeards/braids trying to get people to adopt "walk-em-up." Y'all are still wrong.

Pour one out for the hard-working Audi PR department working for nearly a century to make people forget they were Nazis, and then their CEO just goes on-stage with Trump. Astonishing stupidity.

Most US folks don't have any real influence over the elections, because their district or state is a solid Dem/GOP. But they can still nudge the scales at *primary* time by selecting the least-obnoxious candidate to stand for the seat. So midterm primaries are the most "powerful" time. Ironic.

Finished season 1 of "Star City" - the Russian side of "For All Mankind". It's really good. Except for all of the space stuff, which is bananas. For All Mankind tried to stretch things, but here they just go completely Ford vs Ferrari with the physics - don't worry about it, still fun.

My only gripe - as usual - is if you're not going to give a fuck about the authenticity of the physics, then please stop trying to make ME believe in the authenticity. Just say a thing happened - don't show me the cosmonauts sweating while they press buttons - you're literally making it worse.

I had to go on Twitter to confirm this was real because Ship Awesome Games In A Weekend having a hand with six fingers was so on the nose I was about to pass out

This shit just writes itself at this point. Just the name "Epic AI MegaJam" is a joke that best describes what is going on with these companies.

I know it's my job to feel this way, but I think we've made the coolest thing that's (about to be) available on Quest 3. I'm so proud of our team. Our game is ridiculous. I can't wait to get people in it.

Part of my literal job is to fly out to physical game studios to rescue and recover historical materials that might be endangered and put them in a permanent archive. @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social is a 501(c)3 publicly funded to do that, my DMs are open, and I'm free for the next couple weeks...

sRGB for "image-like" source textures I mean. Not normal maps or things like that. Note that almost every texture you have will already *be* sRGB, they just won't be labelled that way. JPEGs and PNGs and so on are already sRGB format. Just turn it on. medium.com/@tomforsyth/...

A president saying clearly and with his full chest “I am directing the Department of Justice” to do … anything, would have been a five-alarm scandal in previous years. Now? It’s just a Tuesday.

Trump on Camp Lejeune water contamination claims: "If we win the House and Senate, I am directing the Department of Justice to settle all remaining legitimate claims as soon as possible ... if we don't win, there's no money."

tried out Car Park Capital, and it's like... it is exactly what sickos for the 90s Bullfrog/Maxis type games are looking for. it is craaaazy how indepth it is on all the stuff you can manage and look at. honestly it'll take a bit to adjust to it. it's kinda like Dungeon Keeper meets SimCity 2000.

In two minds about GLP-1. We have a culture of over-eating, and it's very difficult for many people to overcome that, and once they get overweight it's a vicious cycle. GLP-1 inhibitors can help break that cycle. But if you just stay there, you're now skinny and unfit, which is almost as unhealthy.

Sorry (not sorry) to all those people who spend 30 minutes a day doing a light jog on a treadmill - look it's better than NOT doing it, but it is a huge waste of time. Push harder, for shorter - get uncomfortable, get some lactic acid burn, finish with a sprint.

It's why my exercise regime is absolutely not something I would recommend to anyone, because it is very painful. But I'm used to that because I've been doing it since I was a teenager. And so people spend half an hour a day on low-grade time-wasting bullshit and see few results and give up.

Anyway, elect me Prime Minister of the USA and I will mandate everybody do 2km rowing twice a week between ages 15 to 65. And if you can do it under 10 minutes you get to vote.

And then at the other end is the Chris Hemsworth / Hugh Jackman thing where people feel if they can't look like that (spoiler alert - they cannot) then what's the point of being fit and strong and it's why people skip leg day. Then they hit 40 and "oh fuck I can't walk upstairs and my back hurts"

And if you haven't had a lifetime of knowing what reasonable sustainable exercise feels like, and understanding what being out of breath is and what lactic acid feels like and how to manage all that and no you're not dying it's just a bit of "good pain", then starting it at 40 is brutal.

We need to somehow get people to do some exercise. And exercise is hard work and hurts, so people don't do it unless it means they get fat, but GLP-1 "fixed" that. So now their bodies are still going to fall apart when they're 40, but at least they won't be fat while doing it. Sigh.
