It’s nice when our aging parents take a new interest, however small. Like my dad’s had some health issues, but he’s been wearing a new cologne. It’s a nice fresh scent, but still very him. Anyway, I used his bathroom yesterday. The cologne is Febreze. Lavender. A man of taste.

When you get right down to it, you can do anything you want in fiction. There are no rules, only popular conventions. The name of the game is getting away with it. If the readers didn’t like it, you didn’t get away with it. Write your heart out.

It's almost a joke at this point, but the entire story of Mamdani's mayorship really has been "it turns out we can just turn off the orphan grinding machine, the switch was right there the whole time."

Friends and anyone who picked up (but esp. read) TETK--what convinced you to pick it up? Was it any kind of marketing? Trying to work out what I should focus on in terms of promoting it, because I often feel very clueless in terms of what works & what doesn't 😂

Audiobook recording is so strange. I’ll stumble through a take that feels awkward the whole way through, so I’ll redo the whole thing. But when I listen back the next day, however halting, the first take sings and the retake is flat. 🤷‍♀️ Do or do not, there is no try (I guess)
