Dreadnought (and it's Sequel Sovereign, and no doubt, it's upcoming Threequel) by April Daniels, is wonderful and well worth the read.

One you might particularly like, Steve, because it's horror pastiche is Malus Domestica by S.A. Hunt. (Sam and I briefly shared an agent.) First indie, then trad. Title changed to Burn the Dark in trad with Malus Domestica as the series name.

I recommend The Indoctrination by K.L. Bone as a great big melodramatic space opera. Very fun.

Josie Kallo's THE SAINTS WE MAKE comes out on Tuesday! Lesbian knights! A dashing trans dude who is very Robin Hood coded! (Both kinda the fox one and the one from PRINCE OF THIEVES imo). The essential fight against empire!

Books by other trans authors: Faltas: Letters to Everyone in My Hometown Who Isn't My Rapist by Cecilia Gentili is a bracing but excellent epistolary memoir about growing up trans and biracial in Argentina. I didn't find it as triggering as I expected to, but maybe I just read it at the right time.

Skullrunner by @vyvre-argent.bsky.social is an epic fantasy set in a colonial "democracy." The MC is a clone of a defeated death goddess, and she's also the adoptive daughter of the head of state. When her father turns on her, she runs away, becomes a pirate, and starts uncovering awful secrets.

Watson's Sketchbook by @leeknoxostertag.bsky.social is a lovely pair of graphic novels that basically depict a romantic relationship between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson via missing moments and reinterpretations of canon scenes in the Arthur Conan Doyle canon. Catnip for queer Holmes fans!

Speaking of queer takes on Holmes, I really need to read more of the Casefile of Jay Moriarty by @inferiorwit.at.app.wafrn.net. I described book one, Jay Moriarty Violates the Official Secrets Act, as "the anti-capitalist vigilante be-gay-do-crimes thriller you didn't know you needed."

Make Room for Love by Darcy Liao is a sapphic romance that got me right in the feels. The MC is a transfemme, biracial Indian Jewish grad student trying to unionize grad students at her university, and the LI is a Chinese American butch lesbian union electrician. Labor solidarity FTW.
