Did you know that the king was under immense pressure to abdicate during the invasion? The king also rejected German demands to legitimise the Quisling regime's puppet government.
As such, king Haakon played a pivotal role in uniting the Norwegian nation in its resistance to the invasion and the subsequent five-year-long occupation during the Second World War
Only 1 week until launch. Lets take a look at the official kickstarter video for Crown & Courage!

The Norwegian defense has been very stout thus far and the king has made good progress away from the advancing Germans. But we have lost one of our possible actions in the Order Grid. It’s about to get really tough! Crown & Courage from Tompet Games coming to Kickstarter in June.
It is thursday again and that means we take a closer look at another historical moment from the game.
Many Norwegians fought the germans during the war. But did you know that some chose to collaborate with them? This is also represented in the game by collaborator cards.
Want to try Crown & Courage yourself? The game is already available on tabletop simulator. We have added the TTS link and rules to the kickstarter preview page! Let us know what you think!

When the German invasion of Norway began, the Norwegian gold reserve was evacuated from Oslo first over land to Åndalsnes and then by ship to Tromsø. From Tromsø, allied forces shipped the gold to Britain, despite German ground and air attacks.
The gold was later shipped to North America and most was sold to fund the Norwegian government in exile .

Our illustrator Joeri Lefevre has been with us even longer. He started working with us all the way back on Donning the purple and has worked with us on every project ever since. Here is a closer look at some of Joeri and Jog´s work.
Lets take a closer look at another historical moment from the game.
The Battle of Midtskogen was fought during the night of 9–10 April 1940. The invading Germans wanted to capture Haakon VII and his cabinet in an attempt to force Norway into surrender.

Crown & Courage is inspired by real events from WWII Norway. Each thursday we will pick a historical moment that is represented in the game. We will start with the sinking of Blucher.
The ship led the flotilla of German warships into the Oslofjord on the night of 8 April, to seize Oslo. It sunk after coastal guns and torpedos fired upon it from Oscarsborg fortress. This delayed the invasion enough for the royal family to escape the capital.
Just saw that Crown & Courage is coming soon. I playtested an early version of Crown & Courage, and can attest to its awesomeness. Plus Halls of Hegra, also from @tompetgames.bsky.social, is my favorite solo game. Anything they make is an instant back for me.

As we approach our Kickstarter launch, we’re looking for reviewers. Who would you like to see cover Crown & Courage?
Crown & Courage is a solitaire-only game, based on the first days of ww2 in Norway where the royal family has to flee the invading Germans

Will tonight be the first time I win Halls of Hegra? Having drawn a doubt token on all 3 of the mobilisation phase turns, the answer is a resounding no. @tompetgames.bsky.social#soloboardgame#solowargame

Halls of Hegra. Lately I have been on this solo only board game kick. This one often gets compared to Robinson Crusoe but I think it plays quite a bit differently. It's a lot more forgiving in the beginning and you are actually trying to prepare for the end. #hallsofhegra#boardgame#tabletopgame
Completed (lost) at my first game of Halls of Hegra at the end of turn 8. This was a tough game but I like it! The pressure on your actions builds exponentially and you soon find yourself in serious trouble. #hallsofhegra#ww2#history#boardgames#solitairegames#imhavingmyone#imhavingmyonepodcast
The very intriguing Halls of Hegra. A solitaire, tower style defence, worker placement game rich in decisions and theme. Real shades of the Valiant Defence series from @djackthompson.bsky.social which is a very flattering comparison IMO! #hallsofhegra#boardgames#history#imhavingmyonepodcast
Got absolutely demolished in my first Halls of Hegra match. The German onslaught was relentless! Clearly, my wall defending setup needs a serious overhaul. I'm thinking of focusing more on adding troops on the defensive position sooner.
What are your go-to defensive strategies for this game?
Watch as we struggle against starvation, exhaustion, and the relentless tide of war in Halls of Hegra. A brutal solo board game experience. How long can we last before the walls collapse and history swallows us whole?

It's Lunar New Year next week, so this seems like the perfect opportunity to write about the games I'm most looking forward to in the new year, as well as the games currently on my shelf I most hope to play in 2025. www.stuartellisgorman.com/blog/7b1fq31...
