My first five TTRPGs, in the order I played them: 1. Villains & Vigilantes 2. AD&D 1e 3. GURPS Autoduel 4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness/After the Bomb/Road Hogs 5. Champions 2e My ttrpg gaming exploded in college, trying game after game, many for just a session or two.

My first five TTRPGs, in the order I played them: 1. D&D 5e 2. Masks 3. D&D 3.5/Pathfinder 1e 4. Call of Cthulhu 5. ...either Paranoia or Honey Heist, I'd have to check Not counting the many TTRPG books I read but haven't played (joys of growing up an avid reader with a TTRPG-loving dad).

Over 40 years as a game master/dungeon master/storyteller, I fully approve of this TED talk. Leading tabletop roleplaying games improved my math skills, creativity, imagination, social skills, visualization skills, leadership, tactics, and strategic planning. Yeah, I have embraced my nerdiness. 2/2

Question ⁉️. #ttrpg. Which ttrpg did you play first? and Which ttrpg did you run first? I played Villains & Vigilantes first. I solo ran AD&D 1e first for myself. For others, I ran TMNT and Other Strangeness first.

Question ⁉️. #ttrpg. Which ttrpg did you play first? and Which ttrpg did you run first? I played M.E.R.P. first. I ran DC Heroes first. (I think)

Q: "How did you get into roleplaying games?" A: Guy sitting on the school bus in front of me reading a book superheroes. I asked what comic and he said it as a new game he had found called Villains & Vigilantes that let you make your own comic book stories. He invited me over to play.

Happy 60th anniversary to Star Trek. A show that has had a huge impact on my love for science fiction, storytelling, cinema, technology, and gaming. May Star Trek live long and prosper.

I have more Star Trek games in my collection and Star Trek DVDs than any other theme. Games include Star Trek Fleet Captains, Star Trek Fluxx, Star Trek TNG Fluxx, Star Trek DS9 Fluxx, Star Trek Star Realms, Star Trek Panic, Star Trek: Space Hunt (newest), and the Star Trek Adventures 2e ttrpg.

#RPGaDAY2026 31. Why does a character think they have an edge? In my Star Trek Adventures campaign, the previous captain of the USS Invictus was an undocumented empath and she utilized that to her advantage many times. But, it also added some chaos and confusion when she misinterpreted an emotion.

#RPGaDAY2026 30. A game event that you are still proud of. My students winning a 2020 ENnies Judges' Spotlight for Refractions of Glasston, a semester project CoC scenario with mentoring from myself @lynneahardy.bsky.social & Mike Mason of @chaosium.bsky.social www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/2...

#RPGaDAY2026 29. Labor: Thing you are most willing to work on for a game. I often do research, adventure and campaign writing, handouts, props, and occassionally minis. What I am always willing to do is write up homebrew adventures and campaigns as many of my games are theater of the mind.

#RPGaDAY2026 28. Devotion: Game you have played the most! No contest, AD&D 1e. I played it almost weekly through high school and college. Moved to 2e a while then picked 1e up again after graduate school. Dabbled in 3/3.5/4. Played 5e quite a bit. Then started running a 1e campaign again recently.

#RPGaDAY2026 27. What do you hunger for most from a session? Shared memories! The most incredible game nights are the ones you are still talking about at the next game night, bringing up years later in random conversations, and, for long time gamers, reminiscing about decades later.

#RPGaDAY2026 26. One game you regret not trying? I always wanted to play Torg. A friend talked about it a lot but was never willing to run it. I really wanted to play in a pulp genre style campaign rather than GM it, but could not get him or anyone else in my group to learn the rules and run it.

#RPGaDAY2026 24. Your preferred distance in any type of RPG conflict? Apparently my preffered distance is a day late. In ttrpgs, I like being on the front line, tending to play fighters, barbarians, and paladins. Even better, fist fights and grappling where it is truly up front and personal.

#RPGaDAY2026 23. An enjoyable moment of good or bad fortune. In my D&D 5e campaign, my players encountered Cadryl's Carnival and had a wonderful time chancing fate in the games. One became cursed, another learned magic, a feathered hat was won, two banned for cheating, and two petted an owl bear.

#RPGaDAY2026 22. An enjoyable moment of grit PCs did or did not tough out. Back in high school, I played in a original AD&D Dark Sun campaign that was all grit and we loved it. Tracking equipment and rations, limited healing options, limited magic access, and a world out to kill you.

#RPGaDAY2026 20. Have the characters kept or broken more promises? My players and their characters definitely have kept more promises, but not necessarily in the way that was expected. Let's just say they are creative in how they fulfill those promises and tend to improvise a lot.

#RPGaDAY2026 19. A huge risk taken because of desire? What fantasy adventuring party doesn't have at least one or two characters who constantly desire the new shiny and take unnecessary risks to obtain them?

#RPGaDAY2026 18. Directness: A fast introduction of a new PC or player? In our Star Trek Adventures 2e campaign, it was easy to introduce the new player in the episode as an ensign at the helm during a crisis. She did such a great job she is promoted to lieutenant jg and joins the main cast.

#RPGaDAY2026 17. A satisfying example of a character’s integrity. I always enjoy watching players who have a heart for playing AD&D/D&D Paladins. It takes a special mindset to truly roleplay a Paladin, delving into a code of honor balanced with adventuring without being just a magical fighter.

#RPGaDAY2026 16. One thing that will cause a character to lose their composure? In my current AD&D campaign, our thief is now absolutely paranoid of ceilings after being attacked by falling slimes, swinging assassins, and more. He loses it when there are rafters, shadowed recesses, bulkheads, etc.

#RPGaDAY2026 15. How would you organize an endurance session of your favorite game? I used to host an event at my house called WHOA, Weekend Holiday Of Adventure. Friends would come and stay at my house and we would game all day, cook meals together, and catch up with each other's lives.

#RPGaDAY2026 14. What is a game held in high regard you have yet to play? Even as long as I have been roleplaying, there are so many amazing ttrpgs available. Some old and new I hear a lot about that I really should try someday include Mothership, Delta Green, and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

#RPGaDAY2026 13. Strain: So far, what is the heaviest set of RPG things you have carried to play? Back in junior high, I walked across town to my friends house with a backpack full of the AD&D 1e PHB, UA, DMG, MM1, MM2, FF, DD, current campaign world box set, binder of notes, and dice.

#RPGaDAY2026 12. Most things end. What is one RPG loss you still feel? At a point in my life, I felt I had to walk away from AD&D so I sold my library. Later, I realized I was wrong and regretted the purge. I have spent decades slowly rebuilding my library of AD&D 1e books. Still missing some items.

#RPGaDAY2026 11. A character made great by having or not having tact. My college roommate, Steve, played an uncouth fighter who got asked why he acted the way he did. Weeks of real game sessions went by with him being morose in character, then suddently a smile of revelation, "Because I am Beorn!!"

#RPGaDAY2026 10. A secret you hope comes out about a character? Looking forward to the time when the drow magic user dramatically removes his mask, cloak, and gloves to reveal he is a dark elf. His party mates know, but those they are working with do not.

#RPGaDAY2026 9. Give one reason why it is a privilege to play with your group. Deep friendships! Over the decades of gaming, we have experienced life together (births, illnesses, graduations, deaths, awards, job changes, etc.). The games brought us together, but the friendships made it a privilege.

#RPGaDAY2026 8. A moment when a character kept or broke their resolve? While playing in a Vampire Hunters Hunted campaign, my character vowed that vampires did not exist. He continually found logical reasons for what he experienced. He never gave into the hysteria that monsters really existed.

#RPGaDAY2026 7. A moment of mercy received or given? As players do the unexpected, mine decided to befriend a goblin tribe rather than vanquish them. They helped them learn how to run a business as butchers and makers of jerkey and smoked meats. We've yet to see the end results of their mentoring.

#RPGaDAY2026 6. Reach: Who would you like to be able to share RPGs with? Young family members. Recently, I ran a one shot of D&D for my two college age nieces who were visiting. They mentioned they have been wanting to try but couldn't find a group. So, I got to be there first DM. I was so honored.

#RPGaDAY2026 5. What burden is a character willing to carry until the end? In our D&D campaign, we had a player playing an elven princess who was betrothed to a prince she did not love. The campaign began to bend its focus on how to help her out of the arranged marriage. Currently on hiatus.

#RPGaDAY20264 4. An enjoyable moment of charm gone right or wrong? (Day Late) My half-ogre fighter, Oz, met a baker's daughter and fell in love. He tried to woo her bringing claws, furs, etc of creatures he killed which did not impress her father at all. Later he understood "treasure" better.

#RPGaDAY2026 3. Poise: How does one character present themselves? - In my AD&D Supermodule campaign, my friend @markdc.bsky.social plays a drow magic user. He dresses in robes, a mask, & gloves to hide his identity (and sunlight). Being viewed as a cultist was better than being reviled as a drow.

#RPGaDAY2026 2. What does one character’s stature in their community mean to them? - My campaigns tend to travel a lot so characters do not put down local roots. Closest I have had is a fantasy character who retired, got married, and bought an Inn. He became a popular NPC in later campaigns.

#RPGaDAY2026 1. Share a character or fellow player who is a strong example of discipline. - Elyse, a player in my Star Trek Adventures 2e campaign, takes great notes, keeps us on task, and is even playing a Vulcan who keeps the crew on task. ... She also kicks my butt in board games!
