This week has been an onslaught of music releases. I guess I should start a thread. First up, Mastodon released Marrow Deep today. The lyrics are fueled by the devistation of the N. Florida hurricane hit and flooding. The music is tight and the mix feels like Crack the Skyre (bass back!).
And I'd be remiss to forget to mention @skittishandbus.bsky.social's new track Rack Stack Overload. An anthem for the fight against datacenters. o/
Still this week, so I'll add it here :D bsky.app/profile/defc...
Did you love the live music sets in Chillout at #DEFCON34‽ Well, they are now available on the DEF CON media server. Thanks @defcon_music @defcon and all the amazing Artists! #chillout #hackermusic #DEFCON @defcon.bsky.social @defconparrot.bsky.social media.defcon.org/DEF%20CON%2034…

On Monday, Japanese artist Kokonen released どうにかして (Somehow) written by Somari. Her vocal ability shines through in this track. More straight forward J-pop, but I think Kokonen's vocals are worth showcasing.
And while not new music, Venus Hum has been shadow dropping live performance videos from their heyday on their YT channel over the last month, including yesterday's Yes And No. I love Annette's voice. It's so playful yet powerful. William's Last Day At Work is still my fav.

Ado released a new cover, Fairytale, from vocaloid producer buzzG. This was one of the main tracks a 13yo Ado decided she was going to sing for someone other than herself. And we're all better off for it. Hearing someone perform a personally important song is a treat.
Chicago artists @russiancircles.bsky.social released Nine. They've always delivered a great sonic landscape. Nine is no different. The mix on this album is clean and much more 'in the room' than previous releases. The drones are crushing, guitar and synths are driving. Great stuff!

Next is The Warning released Everything's Falling. The've been releasing the big singles (Ego, Kerosene, Ritual), but the title track among others are ready for airplay. Continuing to hone their sound and show the world they're just getting started. No mid tracks on the album. All gas no brakes.
I rarely get waves of nostalgia with bands (mainly just memories), but Do As Infinity was such a lightning rod for me in the early 00s Japanese music. When I saw the First Take DAI premier it was as if 20yrs just melted away.

Someone with the handle @velocity69.bsky.social is sharing a video with the caption: "The highest quality video of the moon was just released… so beautiful * Artemis II" It's gone viral, but it's not from Artemis II. If you've shared it, you might want to un-share.
I've heard a few songs by Lydia the Bard before, but her new album Woods is amazing. Some tracks could easily be Florence + The Machine (Lungs era) or other major artists. The title track evokes the hollars of Appalachia, and sets the incisive tone for the whole album. Music to light fires by.

Hey if you live in the greater Seattle area and you approve of Mayor Wilson's plan to ban ICE from using city property, vote Yes in the Komo poll. It's being flooded by right-wing bots. komonews.com/news/local/s...

It sounds like ICE is ramping up in Washington over the weekend. Stay alert
If you see ICE out in Kent/Auburn/Covington/Maple Valley and the surrounding southeast Puget Sound area my Signal contact is JakeMcKnight.75 I can’t do much to stop it, but maybe I can help keep track of people being kidnapped. Looking to document as much as possible
We are common b/c there are billions of us. We are small b/c we live within an ecosystem. We are meek when we don't have solutions. We are powerful when we stand between community and those who would destroy it, b/c it must be done.
I never had any impact on the internet but I did draw this and went kinda viral on Twitter many years ago. Haven't been able to make anything like it sense but still one of my all time favorite art pieces.

Stumbled upon Emma Harner's music tonight, which she calls "math folk" and it fits. Complexity that isn't in its own way and evocative songwriting. And, of course, another touch to Berklee. If this is her starting point, I can't wait to see what comes next.
