Seriously, I believe a strong curiosity is crucial to being a decent human being and I've personally tied low curiosity to a limited sense of humor to a conservative mindset.

Stuff just keeps changing and nothing I do slows it down. Not that I'm doing anything.

We tend to look to philosophy for comfort, but it often is considerably less than comfortable.
