When I hear about the Cornell 7, I had just had an experience at the playground with my daughter. It serves to remind us of the patriarchal structures that allowed such an apparently disgusting rape and complicity to have occurred.

What I think is needed now are resources, support and solidarity channeled through @who and trusted organizations like @msf. They don’t need the world’s fear-mongering, walls and more isolation. Supporting each other’s health is also how we protect our own health.

My heart breaks 💔for what so many communities are going through right now. Healthcare workers I met were tremendously capable, including managing complex #ebola outbreaks in a complex geography, despite consistent exposure to violence, colonial harms, inadequate resources and ongoing exploitation.

I just finished my last quarterly meeting with staff at the soon to be closed Consumption and Treatment Site. This is a loss for our community, that, come summer, will be seen in our streets, ambulances, emerges and in deaths of people using drugs.

Got so enraged, had to do a video

Your friendly reminder: the nearly evidence-less ‘wellness industry’ is worth $7 trillion per year, 4X the pharmaceutical industry. I think it is great to be critical about pharmaceuticals, while maintaining sanity and understanding that meds have a key place in treatment and secondary prevention.

This week’s threats of “erasing a civilization” were the brink of nuclear war and should reignite the work to deproliferate from nuclear weapons. We don’t need these doomsday weapons in the control of powerful and crazy men, and they risk our species and planet.

In 1985 the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts. Healthcare workers could lead a renewed charge again against Nuclear War.
