Nowadays, the internet sometimes feels like a once well-to-do neighbourhood that became a slum after an industrial park & motorway were built through it. And I'm the lifelong resident who refuses to leave, unable to accept that the decaying, now unsafe area will never regain its former grandeur.

This is what left the visible physical world at about 3pm yesterday. The two concrete spiral staircases were my favourite bit. Going to do a run of C-Type prints of this if anyone is interested. Not my best in terms of quality, but it’s does that thing it needs to do.

The reason it’s not up to my usual standard are several. It was midnight, I was trespassing, I had been in the pub for ‘a while’ beforehand. I was out of puff because I am portly and I had to climb over barriers. Shortly afterwards security told me to go away, which was funny.

Today’s Anglia Square interlude (imagine a death metal version of The Gallery theme from Vision On while looking at these) first spiral staircase has gone. It was emotional.

You may not think about it, but you all have a deeply personal relationship with bits of the landscape around you. This is my piece, my world, a backdrop to most of my life, and therefore part of my story. I will go on about it, sorry.

A few more from the demolition of Anglia Square from the day before yesterday. Two wings left now. It’s a very strange and quite a sad sight for anyone who lives in this area and even vaguely understands the community.

This is a poor part of the city, the centre served a lot of people with limited means, and those who really lacked access to transport; it had cheap cafes, someone to sit outdoors out of the rain, several discount stores, and a cinema. The architecture was in places staggeringly brilliant.

I fear it will be replaced by three to six storey blocks of flats that will immediately be scooped up by property investors and remain empty because of insane rents. It should be low rise, blocks of eco-terraces, a scattering of shops and commercial units, a park and some local amenities.

It was a very run down, with loads of derelict bits, but the shopping centre functioned as a hub and meeting spot. We won’t get that back, and what they build will probably not be what we need, which is affordable housing and a community space.

Sorry, forgot the alt text: three views in black and white of one wing of HMSO Sovereign House partially demolished, viewed from the North.

Little treat. Was searching for some filler images for a book I'm working on. Found these I shot in 2018 at St Michael and All Angels Barton Turf. One of my favourite Rood Screens. These are a mix of 15th-century saints and angels. Quite incredible things.

'Your Royal Mail parcel has been delivered, how did we do?' Fine thanks, but probably cost too much, you should never have been privatised.

A few more. Sovereign now has a fairly large hole in it and they had started demolishing the lift tower just as I left.

I haven’t really been sharing the Anglia Square demolition photos on here. But they’ve started on Sovereign House now, so here’s a few.

I’ve learnt over the years to just buy several of the same thing. Trying to find things like things that no longer exist anymore is a problem, if you’re me anyway. I hate to think how many pairs of identical dealer boots I’ve got through.

Also new cuts of jeans, just don’t fucking do that please, have a silo somewhere of the ones I wear. It also takes me about three years to get used to new shirts. I buy them and keep them in a drawer until I can get my head round it.

I appreciate she’s clearly the expert on British food, but that’s not gravy he’s eating with pie and mash, it’s Licqor.

I did a day in a shower component factory ‘weighing switches’, the unit had no windows, and you weren’t allowed to talk. Honestly fuck that utterly soul destroying shit.

It's always hilarious when someone posts 'look at how much I'm triggering everyone, aren't I clever' in a really obviously triggered by all the responses telling them they're talking horseshit.

I hung the washing out earlier, breezy, so good drying weather. Walked through it to pick up the basket, the wind caught a fitted sheet, whipped the corner over my head and hooked it under my nose, my own forward motion left me on my arse with half a facelift and a curious hijab. Quality content.
