My kid's response: "Niulai! Human generated slop wins over AI generated slop" NIULAI

Cartoon Brew@cartoonbrew.bsky.social

China’s first AI-generated theatrical feature has flopped, earning just $181,000 in its first weekend. By contrast, the scrappy ‘Niu Lai’ turned its crude animation into a viral attraction, grossing nearly $10 million a couple of months ago. www.cartoonbrew.com/box-office-r...

RNZ asking the Sensible Sentencing Trust and TPU for comment on the new attack billboards is yet more evidence they learned nothing from Dirty Work. These are bad-faith PR orgs and RNZ is willfully running cover for them.

After Hungary and Poland, Serbia becomes the third Central/Eastern European country in few years where massive youth mobilization has contributed to the electoral defeat of the ruling autocratic party.

Serbia: The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS-EPP) has admitted defeat in today's parliamentary elections. The Student List (SL-*) has won a majority of votes. #Serbia #Srbija #Izbori2026

When political scientists first raised concerns about this new restriction last year we were told we were being ‘alarmist’ to suggest tilting the playing field unfairly like this by one party can undermine the legitimacy of the election out come for all Kiwis in a tight race I’m still ‘alarmed’…

Last day! NZ National restricted general roll voting regulations for the first time in 40 yrs To reporters please don’t repeat spin- the change won’t speed up counting - And let’s not shrug & say just 2% fewer voters enrolled It’s 300,000 NZers prevented from voting That’s an entire NZ town

I urge overseas voters to vote in the early part of the voting period, to allow for complications delaying things

There are obvious reasons to give Curia the side-eye for its biased push-polling for gross rightwing lobby groups, & it was for this that they were chucked out of RANZ. However, their 'normal' election polling has been generally appraised as - yeah actually pretty normal. But this... is just.. bad.

Curia is meant to know exactly what they are doing. They do evil jobs for evil people, and they do 'normal' political polling to maintain their 'normal' face. But in the Māori electorates, are they - in fact - just incompetent???

💯 but also - take a look at the Tāmaki Makaurau results for a snapshot of the likely bias in these numbers - 17.5% of Māori (per Te Whata, 2023 census) own their home in Auckland, one of the polling items - but 43% in the poll said they did. This is where the bias is in the poll

First you have to get over the embarrassment of a NZer being denied entry to Australia for being too racist. But then you can enjoy the fact that the guy who loves to go on about kicking out foreign criminals got kicked out as a foreign criminal.

Best way to mitigate overhang? Increase the size of parliament. Politically the hardest change to make to an electoral system? Increasing the size of parliament.

You know I'm a massive Luxo hater, but do you know who seemed the most out of touch in the debate? The political journalists discussing it afterwards like it's an actual sports breakdown, like wtf fire them all.

Malpass winning the prize for most bullshit in 20 seconds. Luxon lying about Labour overshooting their budget each year. Just awful. Zero clues round the table on fiscal.
