Did we just get four episodes from @michaelhobbes.bsky.social in a week? Is he okay? I love this but I am also worried about burnout and no future episodes ever again.

Can we also give a shout out to the newspaper having all the information needed in the headline instead of being clickbating with “controversial song”etc

Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.” Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

I would do Invisible women I think. I would want to spend all my time making the world more equal.

if i were to ever have the privilege of being sworn in to an office, i would choose a copy of Black Reconstruction

Just systematically making the lives of marginalised people worse to look “balanced” I read and knew most of these stories because of @michaelhobbes.bsky.social covering them in his podcasts. But it’s painful to see them laid together and learn how purposefully this environment was created

Had a teacher talk about “Jai bhim” types aka Dalits being lazy and why reservation (affirmative action) was not necessary because they were not going to be better anyway. It was a Hindi teacher. Not even their subject.

Why I subscribe to the patreon? Because I cant wait the 24 hrs to listen to 80% of the episode when its dropped as a teaser. I need these episodes like an addict needs their fix. I am too hooked to wait.

Restarting the movie from here. Realised I only remember the Sashi Kapoor monologue in the end of the film. Meanwhile “Hume koi haq nai banta apne ma baap ke sapne tode” or whatever…what is this should have been k3g plot dialogue? #desiwatch

Its beginning poetry recitation, made me recall veer zaara… and I am building towards a theory that every yash chopra movie was him building the skills to make his magnum opus. Also “Main Pal do Pal” is an under appreciated song on this soundtrack.

In the yash chopra rewatch series, starting kabhie kabhie with the hope it has aged well. I have never seen it in its entirety but only via songs and my mum explaining their contexts. *Fingers crossed* #desiwatch

as a queer man, ive always been drawn to a gentler masculinity that is often ostracised by society, but still manages to find a place in films with actors like srk and last year, ranveer singh Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani and the Queer Masculinities of Straight Men 🧵

Movie over. The billing order is making my point of the heavy on sexism this movie has despite a “progressive” message. Chandrachur Singh before priety when she is unambiguosly the main character? #desiwatch

Damn I am beginning to cry. Very interesting choice to show how the entire family is reacting to Priety leaving the house. Damn, the boys are crying and unafraid of showing emotion in this family. Its their sadness that has them bringing her back Refreshing change #desiwatch

No one except Anupam Kher knows how to cry in this film based on what I have seen yet. Will update you in the end. Also kicking your pregnant daughter out in the middle of the night in a storm without even an umbrella is… a choice. Return of Deven Verma! #desiwatch

The problem with knowing how shoots work is that you can spot production decisions on screen. For ex. only priety and her friends changed outfits for this classroom scene. The teacher is in the same saree from the previous day. Lack of time to change? Or no. Of costumes?

Did she do her own voice on this? Or is it dubbed? I can't tell. Also, this song starts with ”Yellow, yellow” coz she says she wants to wear yellow. And costume designer, don't make her wear a t-shirt and shorts if you want me to believe her outfit is a saree convert. I have a headache
