What lies beneath … the jewelled sea in my profile picture suffered a marine heatwave this year, there was an algal outbreak and most of the sea life died. Four years ago bushfires burned through nearly half the island, now this. We must change our way of life, no matter how hard it is to accept

Kudos to NBC New York for saying it without equivocation: "The US is to blame for the world falling behind in the fight against climate change."

High school kids, got a job in the ‘lab’ of fruit canning factory, after two days told there too many in the lab and we had to work on the lines, went on our own two person strike, got sacked

Gawd, how ungracious and small do our politicians look when they can't even accept a hand made welcome garlands from hosts opening their home state to show how vulneralbe they are to climate. https//www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10-06/pm-anthony-albanese-declines-hand-made-floral-head-garland-/107233480

It’s disappointing that the Greens have once again given short shrift to a female leader. Larissa Waters wouldn’t have been my pick, but if they wanted a ‘stronger’ style leader, I think Faruqi or Hanson-Young would be fine. Like Labor, they revert to patriarchal stereotypes under pressure #AusPol

As someone who was banned from the Greens at least in part because I was making too much fuss about feminist causes (in their eyes) - it’s a pattern. They prefer women who are conventionally feminine in style, but even then they won’t fully support them

If you’re considered ‘strong’ (like Hanson-Young or Faruqi) you won’t get leadership. If you’re considered too ‘strong’ (possibly even ‘aggressive’) like Alex Bhathal or me, you’ll get excluded. it’s all sad and predictable #Feminism #Patriarchy #Politics

I am personally not surprised that Steph Hodgins-May supported this. In my dealings with her, she came across as a ‘so-called’ feminist who is actually more concerned about her own success than the success of women in general

Elite athletes, musicians, actors & more often use cultural importance as an excuse for why they're exempt from cutting their emissions. In this new analysis led by @manuelsuter.bsky.social, we argue the opposite: visibility and influence should raise the bar, not lower it! Read more:

I will never forget the faces of my children first seeing the snow covered world around them. I will never stop fighting the Woodsides and Santos‘s of this world, and the politicians in their pockets, for stealing their joy.

Last year, the beaches of my childhood were not safe for swimming because of an algal bloom related to ocean warming. Millions of sea creatures died. This year, the low-lying snowfield where my children learned to ski had almost no snow.

Thousands of people died in directly climate change-related disasters this year in Europe, Nepal and elsewhere. In Australia, we’ve also had climate disasters, though generally with loss of life, but I am also talking here about more insidious losses.

Most winters of my children’s childhood, we would drive a couple of hours to the nearest snowfield. My children would vie to be the first to see the snow. I am effortless in the ocean, my children are effortless on the snow. All this is being stolen from us.

Climate scientists are having debates on Bluesky about how we respond to overshoot and how best to get back to 1.5C or less. in spite of differences, it’s clear rapid reductions in methane need to be part of this So I ask all climate activists to stop treating veganism as ‘out there’ or ‘foolish’.

Treating veganism as a minority special interest or even a joke, is a way for some climate activists to perform that they’re relatable. they’re normal, one of the gang. It’s time to stop doing that and start treating veganism seriously

My experience with Greens here is they have a habit of treating people badly and then finding it impossible to acknowledge or resolve This spreads ripples of distrust into the community. In my case I’ve tried repeatedly to resolve this, but the party seems sadly unable to do so

The major-party vote has collapsed, yet the Greens remain stuck around 12%. Their inner-city base limits where they can grow, Millennials are drifting away and even the Gen Z advantage comes with complications, Kos Samaras writes. #auspol #Greens #Politics

i don’t know why women continue to let men run the world. Is it fear, or some kind of collective delusion (not involving all women, but a significant number), or a feeling that it can’t be changed so may as well just put up with it?

Thinking of situations like US/Israel-Iran war, but more broadly the amount countries spend on ‘defence’ and the damage it causes to people and planet, surely anyone can see it’s ridiculous? And yet, somehow no one says so

Looking at people like Trump, or Musk, or the Iranian IRGC, surely people can see that this is some kind of cult of masculinity which is not just ridiculous but existentially dangerous?

I have no cultural clout but it just so happens I did see The Rocky Horror Show in London in 1973, when I was living there, and I remember Dr Frank-N-Furter so clearly even after all these years. He was just so much - and the idea of don’t dream it, be it has always stayed with me #TimCurryRIP

I am having a vegan spaghetti bol (made with lentils) for dinner. It is so delish I understand people who have difficulty getting enough iron from plant food (2 of my daughters have that problem tho I don’t and my other daughter doesn’t) - but people who just eat meat for pleasure? I don’t get it
