I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

It's a GREAT day for the global left. Both Brazil and Serbia have officially rejected the far-right, with Brazilian President Lula da Silva overcoming election fuckery to defeat Flávio Bolsonaro and the diverse Student List movement soundly defeating Serbian President Aleksandar Vuĉić. LET'S. GO.

And Nicki Minaj is actually being floated as a possible Press Secretary. Dear people who are running this utterly batshit simulation: STOP LEAVING YOUR KIDS UNATTENDED NEXT TO THE FUCKING BUTTONS

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

We are now at the point where Trump is comparing the asses of Jon Husted and Nicki Minaj.

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

Turek's positions are not "less than perfect." They are a direct threat to the lives of my trans friends and family. He IS the danger we must fight.

Henry@cohomeaux.bsky.social

I'm just gonna chime in and say it's notable that his opponent is a rape apologist, and a pedophile supporter. Turek is trash, but certainly make clear that as we fight fascists, some choices may not be perfect. Turek is a piece of shit, ashley hinson is far worse. Scrub nation, then party. ✌🏼

He has. I've personally heard takes like this from him. That said, it isn't Hasan's fault that trans people are feeling abandoned by a lot of Democrats. It's the fault of the Democrats who are actually abandoning them. Point-blank, period.

Katelyn Burns@katelynburns.com

I don't watch him much these days but I've never once seen Hasan Piker say anything like this.

I will never vote for an anti-transgender Democrat like Josh Turek and you should not either. I'll probably be writing my case to abstain from a handful of races like his on Monday. Josh Turek is showing the exact slippery slope I've called out, in real time.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

A vote for Josh Turek is a vote against the existence of transgender people of all ages *and* an endorsement of Democrats chasing Republicans to the right at a full sprint. May he lose by historic margins.

"Now is the time for the creative egg crack" got a chuckle from me. Creating is how I mustered up the courage to be myself. It made me a better person. Creativity is therapy. We need trans voices and trans stories more than ever. Don't hold back out of fear. Show us not every day need be combat.

Stardust by me & @sublightgames.com begins rolling out in joint audio and text release on November 1st! As for other transgender authors, I've been really enjoying @ellybangs.bsky.social and @magicariot.com, and there's some more in my reading list to get to.

FRIENDS: recommend some trans-authored books (including yours!) in the comments! And if you've never read a book by a trans person, browse the comments and you may find your next great read. No time like the present to stick it to the pieces of shit who think we ought neither to be seen or heard

That and he let slip that he has serious health problems the other day. Dude is definitely crumbling in real time.

This has been one of the strangest weeks yet for Trump's health. At rally after rally, he blurted out random noises and seemed visibly confused. Now, he just posted this cryptic message:

Cooooooool...

ProPublica@propublica.org

NEW: A bird flu outbreak has been raging uncontrolled on a Utah mink farm for two months. Flu experts fear it could spark a devastating human pandemic. But officials haven’t acted — instead prioritizing the financial interests of the fur trade.

Transphobe: *spews the most vile dehumanizing shit imaginable* Ally/Trans Person: Hey, fuck off. Transphobe: Why are you being so mean 🥺 *rinse and repeat until the heat death of the universe*

BREAKING: SCOTUS rejects Trump admin's request to allow it to end gender-affirming medical care in prisons — a significant, if tentative, rejection of one of the admin's most extreme anti-trans arguments. Only Thomas and Alito noted they would have granted the stay. More to come: www.lawdork.com

First: 1. The midterms have to actually happen. 2. People have to not be mass arrested while trying to vote and polling places in Dem/heavy BIPOC areas have to not be shut down. 3. The results have to remain unaltered. 4. The results have to not be invalidated. 5. The new Congress has to be seated.

In November, Dems will likely win big. Liberals will feel relieved. In 2028, a milquetoast corporate Democrat will win the presidency, spend 4 years maintaining what Trump did as liberals go back to brunch. Then, in 2032, as life keeps getting worse, we’ll get something like President T Carlson.

There is a LOT that can go wrong over the next three months, and Trump is pulling out ALL the stops. Everyone and their mother is raising the alarms. Let's actually get through this shitstorm before we get too miffed about stupid liberals' inevitable handwaving of every opportunity to fix things.

Better than buying games from a cursed alliance of Technofascists and Fundamentalist Private Equity which only sees games as an extraction racket, you can buy entertainment from Humanist indies who see games as art and as collaborative & celebratory. > sublightgames.com VOLUME ONE DROPS 11/1

Stardust returns on November 1st with all new volumes! > sublightgames.com Our Voidfarers are the first to access the audio drama (by several months) and the only ones to access exclusive lore primers. They also receive tokens of appreciation and help fund us. Grab that patch before it disappears!

Typical video game industry shit right here: "They're enormously successful, so WE MUST KILL THEM IMMEDIATELY!!!" I'd say everyone involved in these decisions is 12, but any 12-year-old could figure out how fucking stupid these decisions are.

BioWare, founded in 1995 and acquired by EA in 2007, was a fan-favorite studio responsible for several big hits including Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, and Dragon Age Origins but has had some stumbles over the last decade. Around 50 staff had been working on a new Mass Effect that is now canceled.

Trump: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

a cool thing about indie animation is that it's expected to save the entire industry, every show has to look better than the things the fans grew up on or it's a waste of time, there's no union to be found anywhere, no budget for any of it, and asking the audience to pay anything to watch is illegal

Hahahahahahahaha yeah that's not happening

They'll still call it a "distraction" when trans people are being subjected to unconscionable medical experiments while detained, killed for using the bathrooms the bigots want them to use, and dying from treatable cancers because government "guidance" leaves them without hospital rooms. Oh, wait.

Ask me about getting to the Netherlands and other countries. Stop telling yourself you can't do it until you've thoroughly explored all possible options short of asylum.

Please be thinking of an exit plan. No matter how hard or implausible or shitty it may seem now it may end up being better than the alternative.
