I'm signing off of @bsky.app 1. Microblogging is the fertile soil upon which anxiety and toxicity grow. My mental health is more important. 2. At the first #AtmosphereConf, it was said that for @atproto.com to succeed, Bluesky must fail. I agree with this more today than ever. #BainCapital

I will not be at the conference, not because I don't want to, but because #atproto has been deprioritized and #NoKings is the same weekend, which is far more important to me today. I hope you all have a great time and find ways to build back better without bluesky. I will watch from the sidelines

World Happiness Report 2026, the social media edition The way they approached the call for papers is really intriguing, start with the hypothesis you'd expect and then as for more expanding and challenging the ideas. Nuance has been surfaced. #atproto #atdev www.worldhappiness.report/ed/2026/

I had proposed the stronger version to @dang (Daniel) The idea was that (1) the agents can read it and stop themselves (2) we can tell them to read it if they ignore This has been a long unwritten rule (no bots or scripts), now adjusted and formalized for the times HN is still my fav social media

I got irked one day when one of the Ai talked back at me in the comments, and I couldn't find the rule, even though I had seen it. Turns out that policy was in @dang comments over the years

PLC op count pushing 100M atmunge=# select count(*) from plc_log_entries; count ---------- 85758128 I assume this means we are now over 50% invalid ops. #DataSci will give the answer soon enough

btw, if memory serves me, this is also a doubling of the number of ops in the last year (>>50% likely invalid, enough to push the entire history over 50%, still a hypothesis)

Interesting observation while starting my fresh backfill... Many PDSes have some form of "bluesky" in the available domains, as opposed to "atproto" #atdev

Some nice graphs and stats in this one

My exclusive story on the new program, featuring comments from federal public defender Geremy Kamens of Virginia's eastern district, who spearheaded it. "Every time we’ve had a Supreme Court case, we’ve sort of had to reinvent the wheel," said Kamens. www.law.com/nationallawj...

We wanted to build the 'drone walls' and all the things necessary like the radar, et cetera," a Ukrainian official said. "At that meeting ... in August, Trump asked his team to work on it, but they have done nothing," the Ukrainian official said. /7

not to distract from the real talk, but I would love to see an OpenClaw version of this

A Better World Isn’t a Dream. It’s a Choice. And we’re currently choosing poorly.

Pulling out of Iran is like pulling out during a one night stand... It was a mistake from the start and it will be really expensive if you don't

There's also a related queston for the atmosphere here: if a news website whats to add a share to Bluesky button to their website, should that button say Bluesky? If yes, should there also be a button for Blacksky? If no, what should it say instead?

Hinton is one of those rare people who truly understands how both AIs and humans work, and has also read philosophy from the right sources (he refer to Dennett there). And he's not shy about pointing out how most people have a hopelessly wrong view of how people work, which is the main issue.

I've now printed and shipped over 20,000 whistles, sent across the country to groups that need em. That's 20,000 off a single 3d printer that has basically run continuously in my basement since about mid-January. The crew I print with has sent out over 1M now, and we can send to you too. toot.supply

There are 350 North Atlantic Right Whales left. Their primary method of death is ship strikes. Since these protections were implemented in 2020 the population grew by around 5% - 7%. This rollback will be catastrophic.
