Missouri voters enshrined the right to abortion in the constitution in 2024 and Missouri Republicans have been PANICKING. Their new effort? A "born alive" abortion survivor law making it illegal to kill newborns. As if it's not already illegal. As if doctors are killing newborns willy nilly.

rewirenewsgroup.comHey Missouri. It's Me Again, AngryBlackLady. We Need to Talk About Your ‘Born Alive’ Bill.“Born-alive” bills promote the wild lie that doctors are murdering newborns. And killing babies is already illegal under federal law.

Reproductive justice is about more than birth control and abortion rights. For white women, it has always been about the freedom FROM having children. For Black and Indigenous women, a major part of the historical and ongoing struggle is the freedom TO have children, and to raise them.

I wonder if Todd Blanche has called his pal Ghislaine Maxwell to encourage her to tap into Trump’s slush fund for her prosecution.

🧵 One of the key indicators of far right extremism is the conspiracy theory. Another is deliberate misuse of political terms [why the Nazis had ‘socialism’ in their name]. This tulip thinks they are ‘progressive’ & part of ‘the resistance’ but how do you square that with this BS? [1]

Oh, bless your little heart. People don't think the Supreme Court is comprised of "political actors" because it makes "unpopular" decisions. They think SCOTUS is composed of "political actors" because it decides cases along predictable political lines & makes decisions that are popular with Trump.

NEW: Chief Justice John Roberts bemoans that Americans don't understand how the Supreme Court operates and see justices as "political actors". The court at times simply has to make "unpopular" decisions, he adds: www.nbcnews.com/politics/sup...

Same with Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and Allen v. Milligan. Using racial classifications to create majority Black districts necessarily involves categorizing people based on their race and that's not fair to white people. Bye bye the last remaining functional Sec.2 of the Voting Rights Act.

I have to correct some bad takes I am seeing. People are acting like THEE Sam Alito somehow saved abortion access today. He did not. The fact that he issued a one-week administrative stay in Louisiana v. FDA *is not a win*. It's a temporary reprieve.

Staying on substack is the journalistic equivalent of the Amazon paradigm for the consumer. Yes, it's not really fair because plan b is more work for less value, but you ought to do it anyway.

The Supreme Court is fundamentally corrupt & after the NYT reporting there's a big opening for Democrats to make a huge stink about the shadow docket and that it was born to stop the first Black POTUS's climate agenda. We must talk about how the shadow docket has become a racially weaponized tool.
