Who wants to read an article about the 25 year history of small molecule inhibitors for #cancer treatment? I've got you! Happy to share this piece I wrote for Cancer Therapy Advisor to mark 25 years since the first of these drugs, Imatinib was approved. www.cancertherapyadvisor.com/features/ima...

cancertherapyadvisor.comThe 25th Anniversary of Imatinib and the Evolution of Small Molecule InhibitorsIn 2001, imatinib was the first proof that small molecule inhibitors targeting molecular drivers of cancer could be an effective treatment.

Also delighted that my "Yeah, i'm a homeowner and I'm happy to pay more property tax to support better city services, especially for people who are living in actual poverty" is most definitely not a fringe view. I mean, all of my friends and most of my neighbours think the same...

...but if homeowners were really bothered, people wouldn't have voted for Chow. My property tax went up by around $30 a month. I cannot understand why this became the "bike lanes" talking point of this municipal election. I'm still under-taxed, by the way.

Still very happy this morning about Chow's very decisive victory. The Toronto I know and love really showed up. She got 532,000+ votes. Amazing.

From Lula’s victory speech. Hard to argue. 🇧🇷 “We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. We cannot have monstrously large corporations earning millions and billions, paying no taxes to this country and trying to steer our election results.”

I have been saying this for YEARS. Do not engage online with the far-right. You will not change their opinions, you will boost algorithms that amplify their message. Some of them are not real. They will all waste your time. We must learn from Brazil! Lula and his supporters understood perfectly.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

You had better be voting, #Toronto! I voted for Olivia Chow. I think she's not always good at communicating her achievements, but they have been quite significant. I think Brad Bradford is a poor candidate and mediocre men should not be in positions of great power. Use your vote!

Toronto, I hope you are voting. This mayoral race is way too close to call. Vote and make sure ALL of your friends do too. I personally believe Bradford as mayor means that Doug Ford will run Toronto. That is not good. #Toronto

Aw, Alberta. I'm not shocked by the results of that question, but some of the others...yikes. The one about not giving immigrants on work permits healthcare or any other social assistance...?! But they will be paying taxes? Make it make sense.

Looking to speak with male patient advocates who have/have had cancer and who are actively participating in advocacy/engagement. Must be in North America. For an upcoming article looking at why men are under-represented in most cancer advocacy spaces. Know anyone I should speak with?

My toddler had a meltdown in the house while I was running a complex training session online and the doors are made of cardboard, seemingly. Having a 'mare.

Always known but finally confirmed. Russia influenced British people to vote to weaken the UK and it worked.

It's so very interesting seeing commentary on Karl Deisseroth's Nobel prize from earlier in the week. Lots of "Did you know that his wife (Michelle Monje-Deisseroth) is also an award-winning scientist?!" I find it quite amusing as people in the rather huge field of oncology are probably....

...more like to be familiar with her and her work than his. I had the privilege of working with Michelle on a large grant a few years ago and she is absolutely brilliant in every way. Anyway, personally I'm vaguely familiar with optogenetics but mostly know Karl Deisseroth as Michelle's husband 😀

I have been living in Toronto for almost a decade and it's still weird seeing police wearing guns in holsters. I didn't see a police officer with a gun in the UK until I was 18. I was abroad when the 2005 London underground terror attacks happened and returned just a few days after..

...and had to transit through London to get home. Unsurprisingly, there were a lot of police with guns there. But anyway, still feels weird to me.

"Ripping out these protected bike lanes against the will of Toronto city council is a colossal waste of $48 million. The province’s own experts know it will not ease traffic congestion, it will put people’s lives at risk…” One of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen any politician do to any city.

Um. USA, I give up. What more is there to say?

Fall is the best season and I will not be debating this. I'm in a sweater biking to work. I will arrive at the perfect temperature, not sweaty and not cold. It's sunny out, but I don't need sunscreen. The best.

I read a Guardian article about Kolsch in Cologne earlier and now I have been craving Kolsch all day. But it is Thursday and I have a toddler. And no Kolsch. Alas.

I am in support of e-bikes being able to use bike lanes for the sole reason that more of the riders will die or get injured if they can't. But I sure as hell wish they would stop running reds and almost colliding with me and my kid in a stroller on pedestrian crossings on a weekly (at least) basis.

*Starts a support group for people trying to have meetings while airshow rehearsals are on* As my fellow meeting attendees were deafened, I was shouting "SORRY THAT ONE WAS RIGHT OVER THE HOUSE" while scrambling to close the window.

This drizzly, thunderstormy shoulder season weather is giving me a headache. Can fall just arrive already? I am very ready for my sweaters, soup, fall colours etc etc.
