At a very inconvenient time, our host is doing unplanned maintenance. It shouldn't take more than a few hours, but we're in contact with the host and getting updates.

VidLii is back online! We've upgraded to the latest PHP patch and we haven't seen any other working vulnerabilities on it. As a precaution, we're only opening our main domain back up, we're leaving the non-Cloudflare domains down for a few more days just in case.

PHP patches were released. We're just waiting for the new version to become available on Docker Hub and we'll be back up.

A high severity PHP vulnerability was just released without a patch yet. VidLii uses PHP, so we're closing the site temporarily as a precaution until a patch is available. Sorry for the inconvenience, it should be back up very soon.

We had a bug in the login page that made some people unable to log in. It is now fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

We're doing some planned maintenance on the site. It should be back up in less than an hour.

We've added some extra security measures and our alt domains off Cloudflare for privacy and independence reasons. See the VidLii blog for more details.

Just to clarify - the new announcement about copyright is not a new rule. We are just enforcing the rules we already have and reducing abuse. There are many channels that just upload TV shows and anime and use our website as a piracy streaming service. We are not a free cartoon streaming site. 1/2

If you don't upload unedited TV shows or anime episodes then you don't need to do anything. This is just about removing blatant piracy channels that treat VidLii as their personal Plex server. We've even seen piracy websites embed VidLii as mirrors for cartoons to avoid takedowns. 1/2

Just a heads up - it's always been against the rules to upload TV shows and movies but we're going to be taking it more seriously soon. We're giving everyone a two week notice to remove any TV shows before we do. This doesn't effect content like YTPs or anything you remixed - that's fair use.

Anything we find after the notice will be removed but no strikes will be given. But - if you unlist those uploads to hide them instead of removing them then we may deliver strikes or terminations.

For anyone who wants extra security for their account, we now support 2FA. Visit the Manage Account page to set it up.

Backup restoration is just about done. It took longer than expected, but we've decided to wait until tomorrow to put the site back up after we finish 2FA. Sorry for the delay.

Update: We believe we have identified the culprit. What we know is the culprit compromised a moderator's Gmail account, other accounts, and likely their computer. Those were then used those to gain access to VidLii's moderator tools. Only emails have been accessed; no IP addresses or passwords.

Going as far as to hack an innocent person's Gmail just to get back at a website for getting banned isn't a line anyone expected would get crossed. Expectations need to be adjusted, I guess.

This is VidLii's dev, BF3k. It looks like one of our moderators was hacked and their account was used to access our moderation tools. I'm still investigating. 🧵

The moderator's access has been removed and I'm working on restoring the site from a daily backup.

Right now, it appears that a limited number of emails may have been exposed through scraping of our moderation dashboards. No other personal data appears to have been exposed.
