welp, I figure I should talk a bit about myself as an early post! I'm an avid fan of indie games and am recently in my visual-novel-era, lewd or otherwise. around one year ago I made these lists of my fave games! (they are now definitely outdated since I keep discovering new ones lol)
πΉThat's a wrap for #ScribbleSupport 202!πΉ
Been playing #RabbitAndSteel lately with a few friends! Very fun.
This little freak is my favorite one

thinking about auto-calibrating a mouse
I want something that tells me to look at my cursor, close my eyes, listen to sound cue, move it a little bit, get another sound cue after a bit of waiting, and then be asked "is your mouse position currently where you imagined it would be?"
"if not, move it to where you expected instead" -> they do math on the backend to adjust my mouse speed
it's probably invasive and a dumb way to do it, but Pointer speeds and customizable DPI still feels like a lot more trial-and-error to me
if Liar Game can get an anime adaptation after (apparently) roughly ten years it ends, anything can
which is why I believe Yugami-Has-No-Friends will someday get one too π
I don't even know what's up with seasonal anime in most cases, just randomly started checking the catalogue for this one and it was a pleasant surprise
I'm not sure if I can't remember thing because I'm forgetful, or if I'm generally not paying attention.
The amount of times someone says something I should know but didn't remember is higher than I'd like to admit.
LRT it's even worse for journalism that focuses on discussing some form of art, like, say, games or movies
because focusing on growth means only making the articles that gets most clicks, which means..... only writing about blockbusters in the mediumπ
"it's so hard to find good ____ these days" is not so much the fault of the audience any more than the fact that most people are exposed to publications that do not help them find Good Shit
The infinite growth model is one of the worst things to happen to journalism/media. At some point you reach the ceiling of people who want to read your magazine! You can just make enough money to pay people well and publish things and not grow forever!
... getting annoyed at the fact that Nekoconne is mobile-only for now and yet none of the public recent announcements on their Twt account I know of says so. They just said "releasing 14th of April"....
their website did imply Mobile Stores = pre-registering; while Steam is to be wishlisted-
I also shouldn't play a 3rd gacha game and ruin my life further, but ha. I guess when you vaguely like something for the Moe anything goes....
also this is the IP I'm talking about if I recently have sentiments of "creators should stay freaky and stay true to their desires", bcus they went SFW
I should stop judging because I don't know the creator personally enough to be able to know what's within their hearts, and creators deserve the room for freedom and change, but
after engaging with the entirety of the text, it just seems... hard to believe that this is not a bad mass-appeal chase

I feel like that's a rather large thing to omit and my only way of knowing was asking about it below their post and getting someone else in the community tell it to me with half-certainty. instead of knowing about this from the official channel
maybe Goodsmile truly should just stick to Merch..
should I care about the Nekopara IP this much? honestly no, it's almost worth no substance since it's still 80% catgirl eroge by most definitions, but it feels like a major slap in the face when you've been willing to plan your day around the supposed launch day+time and give it a try; and ha- NOPE

-but like. that website is entirely in JP.. you have a damn English Publisher, an account to market the game in English... surely this means you care at giving information to your English players... and somehow the info about "different platforms have different release dates" just slipped their mind
From out of all of that, comes the two most natural reasons for a UBI.
One, it would give employees the freedom to not accept a particular job.
Two, it would give employers more employees who actually believe in what the company is trying to do instead of people who are just in it for the money.
I think the habit of complete strangers demanding for creators to adhere to what the audience wants over their own freedom to express themselves or tell a story has become a huge problem

I support VRchat existing for the good of all
but in the same vein and maybe dragging this topic off OP's point here;
I feel like this is why we should stop "smirking" or "giving scorn" to media that is created purely as "escapism fantasy"
we all could use a little bit of happy, senseless fluff
when it is, we could also respectfully accept the fact and just appreciate how good it is at executing what it set out to, instead of demanding them to "know better" and implying these creations are wrong for not forcing their audience to engage with Important, Pressing Matters of Life
I dunno. maybe I'm just rambling and should realize the dangers of too-much-escapism / fanservice. my ulterior motives at enjoying them may be in question yet again. but for now, I've seen some stuff that made me want to put this out again

maybe this is just random whataboutism strawman and more often than not those jabs are justified;
(it's also not like I never criticize stuff for being too stupid either)
but I hope people realize that these genres deserve to exist because they fulfill the needs of some others
as always, ik media shouldn't always adhere to the most whiny, the most vocal, the most entitled fans of their genre demographic; authors should have room to create more interesting things that are sincerely from their souls and speak to their intent
but some stuff are made to BE the perfect escape

cozy farming games.. otome games, BL, any romance stuff really
could it potentially be affirming questionable things? yes. but does it matter?
someone out there is fighting tougher pressures and battles you might not think about and maybe the thing you're making fun of tethers them to keep living
I'm a proponent believer of crazy yearning, the "I love you" confession only happen, like, 1000 chapters later
But since it makes homophobes keep saying "they are just friends!" "not everything is gay" then please make women having insane sex session for a week in the first chapter / episode
perfectionism is so often seen as a permissive ability to create or drive something towards perfection, but in reality, it's a crippling inability to let go of anything imperfect
it's an obsession, it stagnates you, and gets you stuck on things you shouldn't be
* "like" can be replaced with, more accurately, "seemingly highly excited for". there are literally games I wishlist where when I did it I was like "if this releases I will literally purchase&play Day 1 and drop everything else"
I hold these beliefs for YEARS with little thought to the alternative
come around on actual release day, there's like only a 40% chance I do it instead of thinking "wait for discounts"
if I DO impulse-buy, there's another 80% chance it stays untouched for months π
don't ask me why, I wish I know!

"ideally I want to record videos of this, it would be cool just for my own personal archives"
"I want to write really long reviews about this"
"those are work, and I feel like I should tackle some other similar work first before starting"
<----- ends up not playing these games I supposedly like..π
"oh damn I haven't been checking (my socials') stuff for months, let's see if I can do a quick-scroll online pilgrimage all the way back to December"
(5 days ago-posts)
(get hit with this)
understandable, have a good day, let's hope Steam allows a longer pilgrimage π₯² (it does up to 1 month iirc)
don't mind me, just a local guy having a specific brand of mentally-ill FOMO again over socials because I had arcs of scrolling for hours daily and feeling it's useful, and then tiring, and then I stop, and inevitably when I come back I'm like "I shouldn't have stopped" in a mix of regret and guilt
my decision paralysis to do anything as my day to day life being emotionally and physically stressful collides with the overwhelming sensation that my backlogs are larger than several human lifespans means i've been really struggling to just. do things lately. just watch something and focus on it
somewhere some poor girl is probably crying about her βotp being ruinedβ by the new mario movie and because im a bad person i find this really funny.
The author's brazen fetish, presented with such hedonistic flair and and open pride it makes you feel a little embarassed for needing to hide your own passions behind self-effacing jokes in order to preserve a sense of safe, pseudo-ironic detachment
