lets see, Panda Express was started by Chinese immigrants and they are still privately/family owned. personally I think immigrant voices matter and make us stronger (and you are clearly trying to erase them), but if you want to be a gatekeeping snob, you do you.

Wrong! The 4-hour Musk doc by Alex Gibney is sexual harassment because a) the subject has been covered ad nauseam and b) the director is bland AF. This has nothing to do with being conventionally attractive; it is unwanted touch!

we literally stand on the shoulders of giants. towering figures who have exited the world. fierce intellects who believed things like "you can ban or regulate dangerous stuff" and "societies can rein in excesses," and "peace is generally preferable to war and chaos." may as well have been aliens

I know this is not the biggest concern going these days, but it stresses me out that basically every artist/writer/critic is now expected to create their own tiny empire instead of getting paid by any existing entity to perform a job they've worked to get good at!!!!

I’ve been following Hassan since he was doing his “reasons to visit Syria” series. (Instagram’s algorithm thinks I’m Arab and I’m fine with that.) His campaign to get people who pledged to rebuild Syria to pay up has been hilarious and inspiring. This deserves more coverage!

Trump got jealous of all the attention the Knicks were getting and decided to wrap it up with Iran. Yes, I am entirely serious because this is how his brain works. Put me on MSNBC

Ted Turner buried Cronenberg’s CRASH after he watched it over breakfast with Jane Fonda. He founded CNN. But also he let TCM and Adult Swim do their thing. In conclusion, Ted Turner is a land of contrasts.

New season of BEEF started off a little rocky but, among other highlights, the use of the “meow meow meow meow” version of “What Was I Made For” and OLDBOY fight fucking got me.

This is like J. G. Ballard’s Crash, except sex has been swapped for money—which is somewhat Ballardian

The most degrading part of NY Post reporters attending NYC-DSA endorsement forums is that you know they’re only paying $5/month dues (or have applied for a waiver). It’s horseshit!

In a lovely gesture that shows that it is never too late for reconciliation, Norman Podhoretz's shiva is being catered pro bono by Schnipper's.
