Records I obtained from a lawsuit offer a rare window into the secretive world of sheriffs’ offices, where misconduct is often shielded from outside scrutiny by #Massachusetts’ weak public records law.

At the same time Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 were asking Principal Jed Johansen to do something about the nude and fake images they said boys were circulating of them, Johansen was engaging in physical relationships with two women during school hours and allegedly sexually harassing another.
The boys that Jane Doe 1 reported never seemed to miss class for any disciplinary reason, she said, and the boy who allegedly first shared the photos had his record expunged by Utah Courts.
“No one wants to come forward because not a goddamn thing happens,” Jane Doe 1’s mom said.
Dominant players centralize control, so they can set terms and revoke access. This creates single points of failure because users cannot override their decisions.

One of the knock-on benefits of Universal Basic income, would be that people would not need to waste time on forms, and could use that time for projects, growing vegetables and many many more things.
I'm just so grateful to both ruling parties that in these trying times Americans cannot purchase $5k brand new electric cars that do not explode nor enrichen the worst people alive, really

Both Michael Menssen and Judge Matthew Bell characterized their judicial philosophy as being rooted in “originalism” and “textualism,” a legal approach embraced by conservatives.
Menssen cited U.S. Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito as influences.
Portugal decriminalized all drugs 25 years ago, and succeeded in reducing addiction, overdoses and HIV transmission.
But the success wasn’t just from decriminalization: Portugal also built an integrated national system of healthcare, treatment and social services built around that policy.
The internet was built on a broken assumption: that centralization equals trust.
It doesn't. It equals control.
Reality Network rebuilds the physical layer with a new assumption: that cryptographic proof and economic incentives create better infrastructure than trust in corporations.
